Default 11-99...another OIS in SD county

11-99 Officer Shot. I just heard that an El Cajon Officer had been shot in their city. The details of how and why are unknown to me right now...the news media is skinny on it right now...all I know is that the suspect is probably still alive and probably holed up inside the house where he shot the Officer from. The suspect had allegedly set the house on fire as well. SWAT and FD on scene. Copter is starting to drop water on the house. The suspect may have also shot his daughter and mother-in-law. Be safe out there!

This happened a couple blocks from where I live, I saw the smoke and helo water drops as I was coming home from dinner. I'm listening to the radio right now, suspect is still not in custody, and SWAT is setting up a perimeter.

I hope the officer and the other two pull through. I cant stand living in this area, it's so ghetto. El Cajon officers definitely work their asses off with the clientele they serve a good majority of the time.

El Cajon PD was also the agency that dropped the pursuit for the shooting. Which lead to the tragic events with SDPD Officer Henwood, now they've gotten a OIS too. Rough...

The officer is a 28-year-old male.

Until a few minutes ago, one of the local tv news stations had a close-up still image of him on the ground, apparently taken within seconds of his being shot in the neck. The news station pixelated his face to obscure his identity.

Hope he makes it.

The SDPD murder has nothing to do with this... not sure why you bring it up. El Cajon PD terminating a pursuit had nothing to do with Officer Henwood being murdered, your post sounds like you blame ECPD for it.... At least the way I read it....

Hope the EC officer pulls through..

No idea why this was brought up. Yes ECPD Officers were forced to drop the pursuit. They would of kept trucking if the higher ups didn't tell them to terminate.

Plus the shots fired call at the In and Out/211 wasn't related till the info matched the 11-99.

RIP Officer Henwood.

That was not my intended thought on that. What i was trying to imply was that both those agencies are going through rough times, and as a measure totality of circumstance.

Please let's not become involved in an argument over what Tacit Blue posted. He cleared up what he meant in the above post and it should be left at that.

I believe the last few words of his first post show his intent in addition to his explanation:

Quote:
now they've gotten a OIS too. Rough...
Let's just concentrate on the officer involved in this shooting and hope for his full recovery and a conclusion to the incident.

Just thought to share what was in my inbox

SUSPECT DESCRIPTION: Withheld

RESUME OF INCIDENT:

The El Cajon Police Department received a radio call of suspicious activity at 1033 Prince Street. The caller said they saw an adult male carrying a gun, enter the house and that he had started a fire. It was unclear if the fire was outside or in the home. Several police units and fire department personnel were dispatched to the area.

The first unit to arrive was a two officer patrol car. The officers separated and began working their way towards the residence. The suspect fired several rounds from the front of the house, striking one of the officers in the head. He was able to back away before collapsing. His partner ran up to the fallen officer, and with the help of a citizen, was able to pull him behind cover. He stayed with the officer until additional officers arrived and he could be extracted from the area. The officer was taken to the hospital and underwent surgery. He is listed in critical, but stable condition.

The residence became fully engulfed in fire and residents from nearby houses were evacuated. Fire personnel were able to keep the fire from spreading to neighboring houses with the help of air water drops.

The El Cajon SWAT Team set up a perimeter around the house and made entry with fire teams. They were able to confirm there were no live persons in the house. An adult body was found by the front door, however due to the extensive damage of the body it is unknown if it is the suspect.

The scene was turned over to the Detective Division and an investigation has commenced. Due to the condition of the house investigators are waiting until morning to process the scene.

Agencies from around the county sent officers and support staff to help in this critical situation. The Red Cross arrived and provided food and shelter for those who were displaced from their homes.

PREPARED BY: Lt. M. Coit
DIVISION: Administrative Lieutenant

REVIEWED BY: Lt. Henton

Pat Sprecco, Chief Of Police
The news is reporting of finding two bodies in the house, one to be a 1 yro female and other a male who is burned beyond ID.

An update: The officer is in critical, but stable condition. The suspect was found dead in the burnt house. The whereabouts of the mother in law is not known. A 1 year old girl was found dead in his truck with a shot to the head. Authorities are trying to determine if the girl is the suspect's daughter. The suspect had texted family members that he had killed his daughter and MIL.

Wow. The Officer looks so composed after taking a round to the neck. Still engaging the threat and even indexing his finger. Adrenaline is a powerful drug.

This. Never, ever....

Prayers out to the officer, his family and coworkers.

I hope they are able to determine if the adult body found is actually him and not his M-I-L, meaning he got away.

Bad quality but you'll get the idea. The look of determination on his face says it all. Never, ever give up the fight.

Saw the video on ABC 7's 11pm broadcast. Tough to watch, hopefully the injured officer has a full speedy recovery.

The paper today said they found a second body in the house and believe it may be the mother in law. The bodies were burnt so bad they will have to use dental records for the ID.

It is really too bad these type of people don't take themselves out prior to hurting others. Killing anyone is bad enough, but how can a parent kill their own child.

I guess the couple foreclosed a home and did a short sale , and the husband just lost it..Not to mention a divorce. So being forced to live his Mother in law didn't seem appealing to him, but damn the guy was a nut!

The round that hit Officer Slocum must have been deflected by the white pickup truck he was using as cover. Because after striking his left temple, the bullet did not penetrate his skull. Instead it apparently traveled under his skin and exited from the right side of his neck.

The deflection is my speculation. Here's what the local paper published online today:
Quote:
The bullet struck Slocum in the left temple and traveled around but did not penetrate his skull before exiting, Coit said. Dramatic video shot by a freelance photographer showed Slocum pressing the bloody right side of his neck. Later in the video, the wound on the left side of his head can be seen as he is loaded into a patrol car.
And yes, the wound on his left temple is very visible in the video as he is being put into the police cruiser.

Saw on my facebook lastnight that they started a fund to help the family with any medical cost. Sacramento Black rifle posted that they were donating 1000 dollars.
