Default Best grips for a Dan Wesson CBOB?

Thinking about buying my first 1911 really want a bobtail commander. Curious about the best grips available with no lead time. Any thoughts?

VZ grips are nice

https://vzgrips.com

I prefer the $20 magpul grips, personally...

The grips that come on the CBOB are great. Why change them?

I just always by a second pair for every pistol I have. Just for fun to mix it up.

If I were going to change the grips on my CBOB, I would get some VZ Double Diamonds.

The stock grips work fine. Even so, I like the VZ Slants on my Valor bobtail. I also tried the VZ Recons, but they were a bit sharp. I sanded the Recons down and they are pretty good, but the Slants work better for me. Nice grip for doubles.

I must admit the original grips on my CBOB are very nice but I had Sarge's Grips make me a custom pair of real rattlesnake skin. His craftsmanship is impeccable. Expect a lead time though.

That rattle snake looks pretty cool.

Since the Cbob is my usual ccw, I went with thin alumagrips.

I found the stock grips on my CBOB slippery when shooting at an indoor range cooled by a swamp cooler, which made my hands sweaty. I just ordered a set of grips from Harrison Design that are made by VZ. I have them on another 1911 and really like the way the grooves help the grip without being too aggressive. Same price as VZ.

^^^ This. Can't go wrong with a nice set of Cocobolos.

Loving the VZ grips on mine. Needed to change from the factory cocobolo due the hot temperature in the desert. Added traction helps with sweaty palms.

I've heard of many folks buying ammo for a gun they don't have... yet. First time I've heard of buying grips before the gun.

I'm guilty of the ammo part, but not the grips.

PS: Great looking grips. Hope they feel as nice as they look.

I had actually purchased the pistol I just had to wait for the gun to be shipped to my FFL then 10 day wait period. Admittedly I have done that before thought.

You can buy any G10 grips and sand or Dremel off the lower back corner off to make it a Bobtail grip. So as a result your choices are wide open.
A wood grip set usually would have to get a new coat of something clear and shiny if you sanded on them.

That's what I did for my CBOB. Took an extra set of VZ thin grips, cut the corners and then dragged them over 600 grit emory paper to form bevels. -And they can still be used on standard pistols without looking strange.
