Default Cutting notches in a magazine

Iíve done this when modifying beretta 92 mags to work in my Walther p88.

I have a Walther P5 Compact coming my way and not only are the mags expensive, I canít find any to save my life.

I was thinking of cutting a mag catch notch on more common P5 full size magazines, as those are much more common. Only difference is the notch.

Rather than booger a mildly common but still pricey mag, anyone here capable of cutting these notches for me? I can ship them or do local, I just want it right.

I have ONE correct mag, to use as reference. Maybe using a mill, wheel, or laser could do the job right. Want some input on this.

Thanks!

Sweet! Once the mags arrive Iíll ship them your way.

Iím curious, and maybe some of us here are, but what are your opinions on the tempering of the Metal after cutting? Is it really critical to restore tempering on the mag notch or is that a non issue?

Default No need!

Unless the notch is made with a torch, the temper wonít be affected.

Cheers,

I will cut them cold.
Without a BUNCH of heat being applied, the temper is not effected.

This may be a dumb question but in today's world of dumb CA weapon laws, it's better to be safe than sorry.

Does this mean that it is acceptable to send legally owned "higher than 10 round capacity" magazines for modification, to a CA based business, and then have them shipped back to the owner?

or, should the magazines be disassembled, the body only shipped in for the modification, and then shipped back and reassembled at home?

I've been eyeballing having some Ruger P mags modified.

Didn't you read the grammar/spelling post about "effected" versus "affected"?

Doesnít seem unreasonable to send the bodies just to be safe.
