Default Murder victim followed no gun policy

For some reason the murderer DeWayne Craddock did not read the NO GUNS sign !

It's a nice story but looks like they are laying the groundwork to sue the city. They provide no other evidence of the conversation than the husband account and are pushing it in the media now to have it more credible in court later.

Thank you for bringing this up. I think it should be easy to prove one way of the other.

If she had a CCW permit.

As usual, criminals don't follow the laws. Yet our law abiding citizens suffer the consequences and are soft targets. As CCW permitees are the ones shooting in public areas.

I ignore all no gun signs at the door as an every day CCW..Unless there is a known metal detector (both the sign and the detector are rare here in Utah)

A (now former) employee at my work who was quitting made death-threats to another member of the staff - saying he'd bring his 9mm and claimed it wouldn't be the first time he'd killed someone.

We pretty much put the building on lock-down. I considered bringing my gun to work "just in case", but I knew I'd get fired if I did. Even after we reported the threat to the Police, they didn't come to take a report until two days later.

I really hope gun rights groups pick up this case and use it to push back against anti-CCW laws.

As much as I'd hoped the Colorado case against the Aurora movie theater would find in favor of the plaintiffs, they didn't. I don't think this one will either, but I'm also hoping I'm wrong.

I know people in California who were concerned about similar problem employees and carried despite the employer’s policy. Turned out the problem employee did in fact show up at the work site with a gun but fled before shooting anyone.

From the Article:
Quote:
Judge R. Brooke Jackson issued the order to dismiss the lawsuits — brought
by a number of victims of the 2012 theater shooting — “with prejudice,”
according to federal court documents.

In the written order dismissing the lawsuits, Judge Jackson wrote that even
if failing to provide safety measures such as an alarm on the theater’s exit
door or security officers for the premiere led to some of the injuries or
deaths, “(James) Holmes’ premeditated and intentional actions were the
predominant cause of plaintiffs’ losses,” and that any inaction by the
theater owner were not “a substantial factor in causing this tragedy.”
Which apparently ignores the Theaters Posted Anti-2A Policies
being a contributing factor....

Because Anti-2A Zealots like to enact Policies that Ignore Facts:

Source, Crime Prevention Research Center:
https://crimeresearch.org/2018/06/mo...***-shootings/

"With Prejudice" is Legalese for the case being Permanently,
dismissed and can't be brought back to court.

Anyone want to guess who appointed the Judge ?

Yep, to the Surprise of No One...

Appointed by Barack Obama, Assumed office September 1, 2011
Replacing the previous Judge who was appointed by George W. Bush.
(The previous Judge had died)

If your policy is to demand customers give up their 2A Rights by
disarming themselves, and then proceed to not have any protective
measures in place to compensate, your stupidity should have some
negative legal repercussions, imho.

At some point these politicians are going to get sued, lose, and bankrupt a city/jurisdiction for imposing this gun free nonsense.

Either a citizen can arm themselves in public...or these nimrods should pay. I get private business saying no guns...take your business elsewhere anyways...no use supporting them.
