Default Sig MPX AirGun

I have never shot an air gun in my life.

But I've been looking at a ton of YouTube vid reviews on the Sig MPX and Sig MCX ever since I found the Sig MPX online with Red Dot (says Sig Red Dot??) for under $200 shipped.

I shot bb guns as a kid but never shot a .177 CO2 powered airgun. Seems like a pretty efficient platform-- just screw in a CO2 canister into the stock, fill the railed mag and ready to go.

Any tips? I see at least on Amazon they have a few different types of Sig .177 pellets-- wadcutters, wraith, etc.-- Which feeds best?

Is the Sig MPX reliable? I would not be looking to switch this to adapt it to a pressurized air gun-- I'd be sticking with the 88-90 gram CO2 canisters.

I'm just looking to have some fun on our property-- zero issue of pellets landing at/hitting neighboring houses since we live at the edge of a mountain basically.

Just looking to set up some cans and maybe buy some fun targets and plink from 20 yards away-- pure fun, no varmint hunting, etc.

Any issues with these? I've been reading some positive reviews. I'm just looking for a fun little airgun to shoot at soda cans in the back yard. Should I go with the included Sig Red Dot?

Thank you in advance for any input for a guy who has zero experience with airguns but long time shooter.

I have the mpx with red dot and it is a lot of fun but if i was to do it over again i would have gotten the dpms sbr and been done with it,
The mpx is great but slow to load and expensive to run (88 g co2 carts add up quick)
The dpms is quick to load and uses 12 g co2.

Yeah, I got one too.

Its pretty reliable, yes you will want to have a few extra mags because the pellet loading is a little tedious. Basically the gun is almost like belt fed.

I only use wadcutters since I target shoot airguns on paper targets. The power isn't too high so don't use pellets over 9grs. I'm not using the 88g gas, I've converted it to PCP. So no cost except the initial investment.

I believe the Sig Red Dot is Sig but from their airgun line not firearm. The open sights on the airgun Sig are kinda like pot metal not the nice steel on firearms.

Hope that helps...

OP here-- great feedback-- I really appreciate it-- maybe I'll buy one w RDS online to have some fun in the back yard.

I understand can get expensive buying C02 cans but I can just order a bunch as well as spare mags.
