Hey Ferrum
I didn't get any e-mails or the sort about our meeting tonight. Are we still on? Any subject for our meeting?
Thanks.

All,

I have to cancel tonight's meeting, I have a small work emergency that I have to run out of town for. Sorry that I had to cancel on such short notice, but just found out last night.

I am open to moving this months meeting to next week if any one is interested?

I will send an email out to everyone right now...

Thanks for the understanding!

Hey Moto
If you don't get anyone to help you with setting up your press, PM me and I can probably help you. It's a bit of a drive for me as I live in Elk Grove, but I've been running a classic turrent press and a single stage, lee and rcbs dies making both pistol and rifle.

I have seen a lot of reloading, but never done it myself. I am also in woodland but work in Sacramento. Do you guys allow people to come learn, or is it more for advanced users.

Or, if you have a particular question, ask it here. Some of us, myself included, are willing to come to you to help you get going.

When and where is the next meeting. I'm up in Placerville and want to start reloading and figured this would be a good place to learn before I leap. Thanks in advance.

I would be interested in joining, but it will be awhile before I could attend any meetings. I just bought a new house before thanksgiving and fell off the roof breaking some ribs and shoulder blade, hand etc.
I have been reloading for 30 years and started casting my own about 8 years ago.

Hopefully that's not a rite of passage or any thing like that. OUCH!!!

Come when you can. We meet regularly.

Finally made a meeting. It was nice to meet everyone, well a few people anyway (the room was kinda full). The info on rifle was great. I'm still new at reloading and just focusing on pistol (9mm & .45) at this point.

Default OAL question

New to reloading and have an OAL question.

Loading: 9mm, 115gr Lead Round Nose from Missouri Bullets, Autocomp powder and Winchester primers. Powder load is about Min at 4.4gr.

My load charts (from Lee and Hogdon) say the the OAL should be 1.1 but I get major feed problems at that length. The bullet hits the lands and has caused some serious jams.

I had to go to 1.025 before they would feed all the way in. I realize seating deeper does cause exponentially increased pressure but can't find any info on changing seating depth vs increased pressure.

It seems that since I'm at a min load that the .075 depth decrease is not going to be an extreme pressure difference, but looking for experienced input.

Haven't shot any since I fixed the seating .. hoping for feedback before I try.

Thanks! Looking forward to joining some meetings.

You should be fine if the powder amount is near the minimum. Load a few, fire them and check the brass for pressure signs. I doubt you will find any.

Quick shout out to Josh, Roy and Herb for an outstanding beginners reloading clinic yesterday. Thanks guys for taking the mystery out of the process and answering a bazillion questions from the 3 greenhorns from Placerville.

We were able to reload on a single stage RCBS, a Hornady progressive and take a look at a turret style press. Really appreciate you guys taking a Saturday to educate us. Cheers and Go Niners!

Quick update... I was informed that the prices for the bullet buy might have changed very recently (the price list I had was from late 2013). I am trying to get a hold of Extreme today with the updated price list. As soon as I receive it, I will send it out.

Default Copper Plated vs FMJ vs Glock barrel

Are copper plated bullets as clean as FMJ as far as using them in Glock barrels without fouling?

Good question. I have a Kahr that has polygonal rifling as well.

Unless you are trying to get max velocity out of them, I think you will be fine. BUT I don't own a Glock or a Kahr. I have shot a fair number of plated bullets thru Sigs and Barettas. Only issue is when I load them too hot. The plating tends to shed into little tiny pieces.
