I also loaded up 100 .223 with 69gr SMK HPBT.

How come you went with different OAL's for your 9mm FMJ? Are the OAL's customized for different guns, or are you just experimenting with them? I usually just pick an OAL that fits in my particular pistol, and just go with that for all rounds I make using the same type of bullet.

On 9's, I am just using published load data, so I use the specs provided with that load. It is easy enough to adjust on my die. On the .44, all of them are less than published magnum start loads, so I just use the length that works for my crimp (and is at least as long as the start load data I used as my reference point.) Not real scientific.

Yesterday's bench activities:

Primed 950 .45acp

loaded 500 .45acp with 230gr Berry's rn ahead of 3.8gr of Clays.

To my amazement, I was able to prime the prepared brass at a rate of 750/hr with a single stage Lee Breechlock press. Brass to the right of me on a chair, primers to the left in a tray, tub between my legs to catch primed brass, and Pandora playing Chickenfoot radio on my laptop. Those years working in factories assembling parts with both hands has paid off @ the reloading bench!

I tried tumbling finish ammunition today out of curiosity. I've read that tumbling loaded ammo is bad because it can cause the powder flakes to disintegrate. I tumbled for about 15 minutes, and WOW they came out really shiny and nice... I think I'll be tumbling all of my finished ammo from now on...

Yesterday, I cranked out 80 rounds of .223 Rem, all with Rem 7 1/2 primers and H335 powder destined for chrono testing. The pills were a mix of X-Treme 55 grain FJM's and Nosler 52 grain J4's. Figured might as well do double duty and get chrono and accuracy testing done at the same time. Powder charges were 25.3, 25.7 and 26 grains using PMC and Winchester once fired brass. Everything labeled for more efficient use of range time.

Also tumbled a bunch of recovered 9mm brass used over the past 3 months as well as match prepped and primed 200 pieces of new 7.62 x 39 Winchester brass.

Loaded my weekly 300 9mm rounds, 6.2gr VV-3N37 under 115gr Montana Gold FMJ at 1.142" using CCI500's.

Loaded 6.4grs, 6.6grs and 6.8grs of VV-3N37 (20 each) under some Hornaday 115gr XTP's seated to 1.142" using CCI500 primers. These to test some full power loads with these JHP bullets.

Loaded 200 .44 RM target rounds. 100 with 8.1grs of W231 under a Bear Creek Moly 185gr LPF seated at 1.6" using WIN WLP's. 100 with 15.4grs of AA #9 under 3 different Penn bullet styles a good friend of mine gave me to try.

Sure hope my order of .358 LSWC gets here soon, my new .357 Mag gets out of jail on Wednesday, I surely don't want to have to buy any factory ammo for it, tsk tsk...

We have made the tests to disprove this myth. it is busted. besides, the factories have been tumbling finished rounds for years

Just before I left town, I loaded up 200 rounds of 7.62x39 with 123grn Hornaday VMAX bullets and 24.5 grns of Accurate 1680, with CCI 7.62 primers.

The only thing I do differently with HXP is ream out the primer pocket crimp, but I've read that the crimp is so small, that you don't even really need to do that.

So far I have shot the same cases of HXP three times in my M1 with no issues, and barely any signs of wear. I am using 155gr Hornady A-Max bullets over 43grs of H4895. Has worked flawlessly.

Do you get good performance?
I wish you could cast 10 - 20 extra for me. I would love to try the lube groove type with a couple of powders. Maybe BE, Unique, N310 and Trail Boss.
Then I could decide if I want to buy the mold.

They're tumble lubed. I lube them with a mixture of Minwax paste wax and Lee Liquid Alox. It's much cleaner than using straight Alox; the bullets are not sticky and they don't smoke as much, and it's cheaper to use. (next time I mix up a batch I'm gonna add a spoonful of carnauba wax flakes because I get a *little* leading with this batch of lube if I load them hot.)

They shoot better than I do. I'm using them for bullseye target shooting -- off-hand with one hand at 50 feet. So that's really not a very good test because I'm not all that good. I really should try them with a ransom rest sometime... Or get one of the Distinguished Experts in the club to try them.

99 luf... er 40S&W with lead bullets from Suter's Choice. On the positive side I found out I don't like reloading lead bullets where they're "sticky" in the dies, think this is the last batch for me. Also after Cabela's let me down with the Hornady LNL AP w/ case feeder I ordered from Midway instead, and the press was delivered and first used today. Still waiting on the case feeder and my overall production rate was slower than with the Classic Turret, but by the end I got the hang of it I think.

So my order of Missouri Bullet Company .358 158gr. LSWC's came today. I still have not heard from the other bullet company yet, so no WC's to load.

I loaded 250 of the above in some new brass. I loaded both Bullseye and W231 powders in varying degrees for target purposes. In the BE I used a range from 4.7gr to 5.5gr's and for the W231 I went from 4.6gr (basically a +P .38 load) to 5.8gr (approaching a start load in .357 Mag).

I will use the lighter loads in the snub 686+ and the hotter loads in the 4" 686+. Have not shot .357's much in a long time, looking forward to it.

Just finish prepping around 3000 223 cases. Sized, swaged & trimmed. I now have a slight case of "Giraud Thumb" I did load up some 55gr with H-322 to try out in a 6.5" AR pistol.
