I really like the 2 Hanks Amish CCW belts I got...but the buckles tarnish REALLY fast. I ended up buying a couple of buckles from the Tandy leather website..and they are located on Baker in Costa Mesa if you want to pick up (Tandy that is)

My investigator google earthed my house, and asked me if that was my house.

He asked why my electric bill was so high, and we chatted about solar power.

He read through the responses on the completed application, asked a few more in depth questions, like have you ever been arrested, we talked about whether my cell phone ticket was a moving violation, he read my good cause put loud, "self defense", and said that's as good a reason as any. He then ran my firearm serials and confirmed they were registered to me. He ran my name and asked if I'd been to New Jersey, and when.

Then it was over, he told me to go get live scanned right away, and to get training within 60 days, and he shoot my hand, and said don't call for 90 days. Then he laughed and said I could call sooner, but nothing was going to happen for 90 days.

And it was over. Very low key. I was not asked why I want CCW or what I would do in any situation.

^^^^Electric bill?????.....Does he think it's a pot grow or something stupid?
It's this kind of stuff that demonstrates why California needs to go to "Shall Issue".

CCW-all done. went fairly smooth. Only delay was my timing on getting things done. I would suggest that anyone doing livescan, not to assume that the city will call you in a timely manner. If you have a contact, preferably the person who interviewed you, I would, 1) confirm with livescan when the results were sent to the city and 2) follow up with your contact. After which, you walk in and the permit should be issued. Good Luck.

Email a reply to the contact that sent you the appointment. Calls can get written down and lost. You should either have Yolanda or Melissa for pick up appointment.

My advice is to check your schedule and reply to the email saying you have jury duty on the date they set, but are available on x, y, or z.

That's what I did and I had a new appointment email in less than an hour.

Good morning, long time listener, first time caller.

Got my online request in and return email with Nov 03, 2015
Downloaded Paperwork, filled it out.
Requesting letters of "Good Character" from individuals in leadership.
Collecting other paperwork.

Will post any questions here.

If anyone has good suggestions on other additions to my package, feel free to suggest away.

Don't sign any of the paperwork until your interviewing officer tells you to do so.

OC doesn't require good character letters, so I wouldn't waste my time with it. If you have a clean history you should be solid. Good luck and welcome.

Has anyone had their first interview in the last month? I had mine on 3/11/2015 and I have yet to have a residence check, yet everyone else seems to get the residence check within a week?

Look like the OCSD has changed the rules back now that Peruta has been withdrawn. Have to show good cause now. They are NOT recalling already issued licenses. Glad mine doesn't expire for 18 months. By then this should be settled.

Peruta v. County of San Diego - Update
The Peruta v. County of San Diego panel decision has been withdrawn by a decision to rehear the case en banc in the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

New applicants, and those applicants currently in process, will be required to articulate their safety concerns and provide supporting documentation in accordance with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s (OCSD) Policy 218. Each application will be evaluated individually based on the merits of the applicant’s good cause statement and the totality of their circumstances.

CCW Licenses issued under the previous Peruta standard of good cause are lawful and will not be recalled. Current licensees may be required to provide supplemental information and documentation in support of their good cause statement when they attempt to renew their CCW license. All renewal applications are subject to the legal standards at the time of renewal.

Prospective applicants are encouraged to attend their scheduled appointments and submit their CCW applications for consideration. Applications approved after Thursday, March 26, 2015, are subject to the good cause requirement in OCSD Policy 218.

Please be aware the application process includes an interview, fingerprinting, background checks, residency verification, successful completion of firearms training, and the payment of all related fees. Applicants may also be required to pass a psychological examination as part of the CCW application process in accordance with California Penal Code Section 26190(f)(1).
Actually per their statement, anyone that has had their application approved prior to March 26th is not subject to the good cause requirement. That being said, anyone that has received an application conditional approval e-mail on or before March 26th is still good to go.

Due to the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals vote to rehear the Peruta Case, you will need to submit a “Good Cause Statement” along with supporting documentation. Please email me this information so that I can submit your file for approval. See below for additional information.<br />

The first post shows you getting the email requesting more Good Cause info, but the second one shows you already had your permit. If that's the case, you'd be one of the first that has happened to, and makes me wonder if it will happen to others of us. Your post showing your accounting of costs shows you took a psych, I wonder if that had something to do with it.

I don't know of anyone else who has their permit and is being asked to provide additional Good Cause info.

That sucks. That would explain why my friend's approval has been delayed. I picked up mine a few weeks ago and we've been wondering what was going on. He applied just 1 month after I did.

So my Sept initial appt has been moved up to July. As the winds have changed... Wasting my time? Anyone earn a license before Pureta w/ advice re good cause that has worked historically? Open to any thoughts.

Thanks,

Default final interview same as pickup?

I have my final interview in two days (7/30/2015)

Is that also the pickup day? Will I be able to carry after that interview? Or do I then have to wait for the card to arrive in the mail?

thanks

They give you the card on the spot. I don't remember where in the process the "final interview" is.

If I remember correctly after OCSD gets the live scan results the next step is to pick up your CCW.

I have been "lurking" for a while, but finally I have something to post...

I submitted a CCW Appointment Request on the OCSD website on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, and as of today (19 days later) I have not heard back anything.

I checked the "time lines" reported in this thread and I see references to a date for the "CCW Interview Request" followed by date for the "interview", but I don't see any recent references as to when people were notified about their upcoming interview.

Should I just be patient, or did my CCW appointment request fall in between the cracks?

After I submitted my request, I got an email back the next day with my appointment date. Check your spam folder.
