I did the same thing had a gun being Dros at the time of my appointment. Melissa Soto told me they take the guns and serial numbers off your training certificate, so take what guns you want to add to class when you do the training.

The Long Wait
For those of you guys who are behind me, here is my timeline:
5/31. Interview 6/2-3 Training 6/9 Residency check 6/20 Preliminary approval 6/20 Livescan completed Since June 20 - Nada. No news as of today. I'm waiting for my permit pickup appointment and the wait is painful. It's been 51 days since the interview, but from what I can gather from other forum posters, I need to wait until I reach 60 days before I shoot off an email. For those of you just starting the process, figure 90 days from your interview. Congratulations to those who have received a permit, and patience be granted to those of us still in the queue. |

My understanding is that it takes 5 to 8 weeks for DOJ approval. This time period starts at payment of the $93 and live scan process. At least that is what I was told at my live scan process in mid July.

They want you to bring passport pics and they keep one that goes on your file. Your drivers license pic is the one they use for your residency check. And the pic they take of you at your interview is the one that goes on your carry licence so remember to give them a big ol cheese grin.

Give it about a month for each stage. Even if your live scan is back early your gonna wait about a month. While your waiting get your training done.

I requested an appointment online yesterday and I got a confirmation with an appointment date this morning for this coming December. I'm not sure what this first appointment is about. The email required that I bring the application and a few other documents. I will keep the board posted of the progress.

Read through the early stages of this thread and the other OC threads and you'll see what the interview entails and what you need to bring. I'll bet a dime to a donut that your interview gets moved up, so get your paperwork in order. Good luck

I completed the Livescan process and paid my $93 for DOJ in mid-July. My 16hrs of training is done as well. What is the next step in the process and how long did you guys wait for DOJ approval?

i signed up originally in march of this year. i took the ccw class first as i figured it would fill up fast and i was ready for another class anyways. i got my original date for aug of 2015! that changed to april 24th 2014, fast forward i get my pickup date of aug 28th! 8 more days. i got the approval 3 weeks ago. i dont understand what such a long wait to pick up? i have had a few friends get theirs and they said it took 10 min to pick it up. That said the whole process is messed up thoes friends started after me but finished before me just seems like its a big cluster at the ocsd lol i hope for everyone else the process gets smoothed out. last i heard there was about 6k applicants for oc. carry on brothers!

1. Interview 6/21/14, easy.
made appt and took firearms class from Greg Block. Completed on 7/1/14. (they don't recommend taking class prior to approval). 2. OCSD Approval 7/20/14 Live Scan 7/22/14. go to reputable service. My son went to one at a stationary business. 3 weeks later he got a email his live scan prints were bad and had to redo. He was not happy. 3. OCSD email ccw approved, 8/20/14 appt set for pickup ccw 8/27/14 |
