Default 1/22/13 Inaugural North OC Shoot @ Field Time Target and Training

Come one come all,

Due to overwhelming demand for our monthly shoot down at OnTarget, we are starting another monthly shoot to better accommodate Calgunners in northern Orange County. Field Time Target and Training in Stanton has been gracious and invited us to use their range facilities for our new North OC shoot! If you haven’t been to Field Time yet, it is a gorgeous new facility with state of the art design and HEPA ventilation system.

Our inaugural North OC shoot at Field Time Target and Training in Stanton is on Tuesday 1/22/13, starting at 6:30pm sharp and will go until 9:00pm. Field Time Target and Training is near Beach & Katella in Stanton…Do not confuse it with the Field Time Sports and Guns on Beach & Hazard in Westminster…

Food:
There is a lounge area where we can sit around, socialize and eat. Since this is a weeknight shoot, I will bring a stack of pizzas and drinks for dinner. Dinner will be available for a $5 donation. Please let me know if you are interested in food so I know how much to pick up.

Safety is big-time important. Complete range rules can be viewed at
http://www.fieldtimetargetandtraining.com/range.html

Please review the following notes:

Bring a Government ID! We cannot let you onto the range without proper ID. Remember to bring a driver’s license, passport, govt ID card, etc.
Age – No shooters under the age of 10 are allowed in the range. All shooters that are under 21 MUST be accompanied by a shooter that is over 21 that is willing to act as a steward and keep an eye on them. If you don’t know anybody over 21, let us know and we will find someone that will help you out and show you the ropes.
Ammo – Your ammunition will be checked by both FT and Calguns staff. No steel core, no steel jacketed / bi-metal jacketed, and no steel cased ammo. If any part of the cartridge attracts a magnet, it is a no-go. No aluminum cased ammo. No Tracers.
Pistols – No Rapid fire, no drawing from holster, and all pistols must be unloaded, locked open and pointed downrange when not in use.
Rifles – All rifles must have a chamber flag when not in use. If the range does not have any available, I will try to bring some extras that you can purchase for $1.
Shotguns- Slugs ONLY. Double check your range bag and make sure no birdshot or buckshot is brought into the range. This is a safety issue. If you are caught with birdshot or buckshot, you will be asked to leave.
Cost - $10, stay and shoot until closing at 9pm!

REMINDER: - Please police after yourselves at the range. Field Time Target & Training has been gracious enough to allow us the use of their facilities. We will return the courtesy when utilizing their facilities, and take responsibility for our actions. We will leave the facility better than we found it. That means sweeping up after yourself, making sure trash is disposed of and accepting responsibility if you shoot a target hanger or damage range equipment.

If you are planning on attending, please respond to the thread so we have a good headcount.

We should have some flexibility as time progresses. Being a new shoot, we will see how things pan out in the months to come and make adjustments as necessary. We are a group of the people, so we will try to make the schedule work for as many as possible. Hopefully we can work something out.

We're working with the owner of Field Time to make this event complement his business. At this time we believe a Friday or weekend night shoot could be a detriment. We're trying this day out to see how things go. We've had a lot of call for weekday shoots. Tuesday worked out best for us.

However, since the goal of this shoot is to fill up that guest list, we're willing to look at how things go and see if adjustments need to be made.

It doesn't have to be Friday or the weekend I was just saying for me personally that TUESDAY is the only week night that I always busy. Obviously I'm not asking that the day off week be changed just for me, but I would be so bummed out if the event was always on the one weekday I can't make.
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday are fine.

This is our first shoot for this location and it will be held monthly. It looks like this shoot is probably the closest to you. There are also monthly shoots in Burbank, and Rancho Cucamonga.

But we are always looking to expand and start new shoots. Attend one of the existing shoots for a while and if there is enough interest, we could look at starting another one up near Whittier.

Feel free to ask me or any of the other Community Leaders if you have questions. Welcome to Calguns!

Hate to sound like a stick in the mud but why would they care if the case is steel other than the fact that it mixes in with all the brass that they mine off of everyone.

I dont know if they are one of those ranges that feel they own what hits the floor but the last time I was there they couldnt seem to sweep the brass into the lanes fast enough.

Shooting is expensive enough a hobby without getting robbed for brass.

They reload the brass and sell it. It was explained that the steel and aluminum casings mess with the reloading equipment. I don't necessarily like it either but it is not an uncommon thing.

Their range, their rules.

I understand the whole its their range their rules thing. I just don't care for the idea that part of their businees plan includes other peoples components.

If they in fact let you pick up your own brass thats fine, but if they don't I dont care to shoot there anymore, which sucks cause I live right down the street.

Does anyone know if they in fact forbid brass retrieval?

I've been there a few times as my brother is a member there. I was there last month and sure they try to keep the floors clean of brass but I had no issues as I retrieved some casings off the ground. Actually I'm pretty confident that once they saw me do so that they didn't sweep around us. But I could also be imagining that.

Either way they didn't mention anything about not being able to collect brass of the ground.

Btw I am off tomorrow however unsure if I'll be able to attend. Hopefully can to meet some of you as I'm newer to firearms and just recently got my xd45.

Hope everyone has a good time if I don't make it.

Ricky

I'm a member there as well. The staff has always been very nice and helpful when I have been there. They are a far cry from the staff that works at Sharpshooters off of Western. I was at Field Time on Monday, and the range officer asked me (several times) if I was saving my brass before he swept it up.

Hate to say this but can't make it tonight. Was really hoping to join but I'm stuck in the office working late. Was at field time on Saturday. My favorite range in OC. And regarding keeping brass, yes they let you keep it. They will even sweep it into a pile in your booth.

Had A Great Time Tonight !! I must say it was well worth the traffic I went thru to get there... Range is Awesome, MiniChik made it easy for check in, lgm118icbm had the answers and helped everyone have a good safe time, rage officer swept my brass into a pile by my booth for me to pick up, prices were fair for mags and rounds. I am not always full of compliments, but this was a fun evening.
Hope there are more in the future... I will tell a few freinds about it for next time to join.

The staff was great. Helpful while still doing their job. And they have no problem with you collecting brass. I look forward to the next one. Great job putting this shoot together. What was the prize for the top shot?
