i've been thinking of getting a CZ in 9mm and it felt really nice while I was handling it. It has a good natural point of aim. The only problem I can think about is that the slide is VERY thin. I know this keeps bore axis low, but do you CZ guys ever have a problem racking the slide because of its thinness?

No problem at all. I've had cases where I had to tap-rack and it worked fine. I don't think I was worried too much about if it is going to miss or not.

I *really* like my 97B! It's a very accurate gun, and I have had no FTE's or FTF's. Fair warning - I have never fired a 1911, so I can't comment as to the differences between the two. I've fired a Sig P220 and a Glock 21, and I personally like the 97B more than either of those guns. They're fine, but I actually appreciate the weight of the 97B. Some people have problems with the grip size, though, but this is a really accurate scale I found on the www.czforumsite.info board:

"Get a ruler, spread your little finger and thumb as far apart as possible - measure. My pinkie/thumb span is 9 1/4" and my CZ-97 is perfect for me. If you're in this range, say 8.75 to 9.25+, there is a good chance you'll like the grip."

My measurement is 9" according to this scale, and I love the grip of the 97B. I did replace the factory checkered grips with the factory rubber grips, though, which I would *highly* recommend (only 20 bucks). Or get some sweet custom grips, if you feel like spending a little more.

My hands are too small according to the guidelines. That's I problem I have in general with CZ's firing double action. That's one of the reasons I really like my 1911's. Try one out and you might get hooked!

I'm with you! I've never seen that look before. I'm still trying to contact Sam at Omega Custom Grips for new Wood, but these will do just fine for awhile.....Nice.

my new (a week old) cz 75b duo tone in 9mm. exactly out of the box with 300 rds through it. love how much cheaper 9mm is compared to 45 acp and 38 super.

It feels better than it looks. I've had people hate my CZ with the stock grips and love it with the Hogue. Me personally, I just love CZ

Mine is earlier in this thread. S/A conversion by CZ customs. One of my all-time favorite guns:

I would get rid of that SS rod if I were you. Over time, your frame is going to get damaged by it. Your PO-1 has an alloy frame that is made of a softer material than your SS guide rod. You've already voided your warranty by installing one, and when your frame starts to show peening, and eventually failure, there won't be anything you can do about it :|

very good point...i saw the same posts over at the cz site. i wonder if it was actually spring compression myself. nonetheless, i've checked my frame (as with all my guns really) after 100 rounds (frame/structure integrity, cleaning, oiling, etc.) and i've yet to see the marks that these guys were referring to (and pix too). bear in mind that i've taken this baby to the range 3 times only (300 rounds exactly) so i've yet to break it in yet so the results may be different subsequently. what bugs me is a nato-sanctioned gun is supposedly "soft" wherein other non-sanctioned nato guns (i've done the same to sigs, berettas, blocks...ahem, i mean glocks and no evidenced wear) continue flawlessly. and, to be honest, it's really a cosmetic thing, as i simply don't like the wiggle of the plastic counterparts; i'm not advanced enough to differentiate the advantages a SS rod provides.

thank you and take care iareConfusE

Although it is Nato spec, it has a lighter alloy frame to save on weight. They used a plastic guide rod because there really isn't an advantage of a SS guide rod in terms of accuracy or performance, and because it is easier on the alloy frame than a metal guide rod. If there's ever a problem with the plastic factory rods, they can be replaced by CZ for free. The guide rod's only job is to keep the recoil spring straight. 300 rounds isn't enough to see wear just yet, but wait until you start getting into the thousands range - then you will notice the wear.
