Default The 2018 IDPA King (or Queen) of California

It looks like 2018 is going to be quite the year for sanctioned competition in California... Do you have what it takes?

5th Place - 2 points

Could an MM beat a DM?? It's totally possible!!!

Winner will be announced at The Western October 14th.

Ties will be determined by either a) Most accurate of all CA2A competitors at the Western OR b) by a 5 gun shoot-off!!! OR c) by whatever we decide, contingent on time.

Since a first place Marksman gets more points than second overall Master in the match, this should be titled King and Queen Sandbagger. Better yet, just hold a drawing for the winner.

Maybe. But you will only be 1st place MM once then you will need to be 1st SS then 1st EX.......

You say that as if it isn't a part of the "game"

If there are enough competitors in my class at any of the matches, I'd be happy to get a Match Bump...might make life more difficult at the Nationals, but that's part of the game too.

BTW: It would be very cool if a club in the San Diego area held a Sanctioned match too...we'd make the trek from NorCal

I really wonder why there is a "Most Accurate" designation for IDPA matches. Usually the guys that win it are like 500 seconds behind everyone else for the match. The guys going for it might as well be competing in a freestyle "Bullseye" competition.

Since IDPA doubled-down on the old man rules with the 1 point = 1 second, you're seeing division winners with a reasonably low number of points. The top overall shooter at the big Western match in Sacramento in October only had two other shooters with fewer points down than he did.

The handcuffed stage should be interesting...my previous experience should finally prove handy

Yeah, reloading while being handcuffed especially. I will have to practice that. I don't think regular handcuffs would even allow one to rack the gun safely, so there must be a chain between the cuffs.

The most accurate shooter can be one of the top finishers or someone much slower placing way lower. It's possible for someone who is very fast to have more points down and still place well. But, if you compare the top 10, middle 10 and bottom 10, you will see that the top 10 will have fewer points down. There are individual exceptions but that is how it plays out.

Well, I’ll be out there tomorrow trying to drain the lakes and mitigate the mud as best as possible. Bring your mud shoes and waterproof socks just in case.
