Personally I learned a lot zeroing my first scope on my own. Took me about 500 rounds and a lot of trips to the range, but like I said, I learned a lot.

Do you have a link to the scope setup you bought? Does it use standard rings? I may be able to help. No laser, but I have one of the Wheeler mounting kits and a spotting scope.

Depending on when and where, if you don't mind a noob looking on to learn I would like to stop by and see the process.

I'm down. I don't use lasers, but I've never used more than one magazine's worth of ammo to zero anything. PM me to set something up.

Thanks for checking BadBascom! Unfortunately my Wife has informed me of a schedule conflict so I will not make it.

Here's some reading on scope setup and scope reticles. Some things you can do (if so inclined) before actually going to the range:
-check to see if scope rings are aligned straight. If they are, they also won't put uneven pressure on the scope tube (see Wheeler scope mounting kit- comes with alignment gauges and lapping bar)
-check to see if scope is level/on-center vertically/horiz (use bubble levels, aim crosshairs at a string/weight hung on wall)
-find the scope's mechanical zero
-based on the scope reticle, figure out how much each "click" on the turrets should move POI at 100 yards

Most of the old timers or ROs at South Bay Rod and Gun will help you zero at the range by spotting where your rounds impact in the berm around the target. You can then adjust the scope accordingly. They now have a 50 yd line on the main range, so if you can get on paper there, it shouldn't take much more to get to 100. I don't think there is a berm behind the 50 yd line though (haven't been there in a month and they've been doing earthwork there).

How do you like "scout scope combos from aim"? How did you zone in your scope? How many shots did it take?

The scout scope is fine . And I had it pretty dialed within 10 shots . I just need more practice myself so I can really shoot better . I did put about 60 rounds down range and it seemed to hold steady .

old school simple method a buddy told me: setup a target at 25 feet. yes feet. put 3 shot in a one inch grp. move out another 25 feet repeat process until your satisfied with the distance.

you dont need a laser, just a rifle bag or rest or bipod and a handful of ammo

if you wanna head out to open land to get it dialed in further (or just to blow thru some ammo) let me know. i frequently go shooting on open land north of SD (but not very far), i hate ranges...lol.
