Ok, I gotta ask. Why are all of you dropping out because of the grip? They have made it abundantly clear that it was a polymer grip and a steel frame. Did I miss something? Are they suddenly making them out of Legos now or something?

modify it as in plastic weld additional material to the top of the grip so that it actually looks like a 1911 grip panel and has the same functionality? I guess I could, but why would I want to? I'll just wait for an STI-clone version.

I got into it late after only seeing a cad drawing. I dont like the grip, like others so Im out. It shouldnt affect whether you like it or not. Im just going to wait for one of the other companies who have steel grip in the woodwork.

Setting up a new one today, trying a different model. It will be a while before I get it up and running, I still need to build a computer.

Check out the video they posted on their site.
The gun actually looks way, way better there than it does in the pictures.

That would be a barrel choice as far as I can tell. If you want a boutique caliber though, why stop there? If .45 Super/.450 SMC is too tame, .460 Rowland will knock your socks off. The barrel kit comes with a compensator to reduce stress on frame and shooter along with 28 lb. recoil springs.

I am definitely in. Small issue though as I'm currently deployed in Canada. If anyone would be so kind as to send a jig/frame up here (there are NO ITAR control issues on either side of the border) I would be eternally grateful.
A little help? |

Hey vader, I'm thinking about drawing up a cad on mastercam for a grip for these. If you get your new machine running do you want to try giving it a run? I want to try an aluminum double stack Sti type grip. Should be simple enough to do

I'm just a couple cables, short of test running the new mill. They should be here in a day or two. I had to build my own computer for this mill so I'm expecting a bug or two. |

Sweet.sounds good. I'll start gathering specs for the new grip and probably start on it when I get back from a bachelors party end of the month. I'll cad it up for aluminum and we can change the feed rate and spindle speeds for carbon steel later if the weight is weird.

I dropped by Ares Armory over the weekend and was able to look at and handle the prototype. The grip to frame fit was very tight, did not feel any play between them, and the grip was comfortable to hold.
I'm in for sure for one frame... Paypal will be sent within 24 hours. Also verified with Ares that if you participate with their build party, then a jig does not need to be purchased, they will take care of it. Now... who do we contact to get more information regarding the Caspian slide?...

I am not sure what the prices are going to be for caspian via the OP of this GB but I am working on a price list to finish this build.
I am looking at full package in caspian, fusion and just the slide options. |
