Nice 1911,s!! Someone is going to get mad but....... My friend who knows about 1911's told me that RIA bought their gun machine from Colt...so Colt and RIA are the same... Like GMC and Chevrolet ...

im not sure how much truth is behind that, but seeing as a 1911 whether from any brand will still be a 1911, u can do pretty much the same
thing from a $500 RIA to a fully customized Nighthawk or Wilson Combat just my .02

I keep running across forum postings that say this is an urban legend. They are fantastic guns for the money either way.

You might want to call RIA and see about getting it looked at then. Is it hammer follow? That could be very unsafe.

I am not really sure what the issue is, I bought it "slightly" used. I have only put 3 magazines through it, 2 of the 3 it randomly had the issue. I was at a local indoor range that has no A/C and it was 100+ outside. I couldnt really get a feel for the gun since I was miserable. I am going to shoot it again tomorrow at a nice range where I can take my time and see what happens then proceed from there. Last edited by johnny_boy02; 08-03-2012 at 10:16 PM.. |

I dont think so. I bought it off of this board. The guy seemed stand up when we met. He casually mentioned the gun had been sent back to RI for repair after money had been handed over and we started the paperwork.
To be honest I don't remember the issue it was sent back for. The minute he mentioned that I saw red and stopped listening because that bit of info was left out of the for sale ad. I honestly think he thought any issues had been worked out from the factory, and the gun was fine. I need to spend more time at the range before I move forward. I field stripped it and cleaned it, nothing obvious wrong. But I am a noob. |
