Gabe is Outstanding, very knowlable on laws/parts/builds & can guide you to local references for the rest of your build. You can even pick up a 80% lower across the street walk to his shop and be done in 10 minutes..if theres a opening for a appointment. . His equipment is simple to use & practically impossible to mess up your lower. He does ar15's, 10's and others I'm sure. There is a anodizing place within walking distance as well.
Bottom line you'll be very happy with the results. Last edited by calgunsguy; 09-02-2013 at 8:10 AM.. |

I am also looking to finish my 80% and called smf and it looks like they are not gonna be able to get me in for quite some time. Called gabe at arms specialty and got no answer(emailed too and got no answer) i even tried a place in chino that a friend recommended that shall remain un-named because it sounded like that is not what they do. would really love to get this done in the next couple of days so i can go shooting on friday. Any and all help will be appreciated.

The problem is making it 100%. With all the cnc rental shops shut down your going to have to do the work using a jig and drill press or mill.. |

80% lower
It will but unless you can get it machined for free it's a complete waste of money.

If you have a lower to finish, please don't expect this info to be freely posted in an open forum... PM is the way!

Same here. Looking for a couple people willing to let me do my own work on their machines. The holidays and wife are allowing me to build a couple more.

I've been considering picking up an 80% lower, but hove no idea how to go about finding a CNC machine. Also, buying a drill press and hoping I don't screw it up isn't exactly my style. I was just wondering how much it usually costs to rent time on a machine? Also, do these places have a jig or do I have to buy my own and bring it to them? Any info via PM would be very much appreciated!

I'd think about buying a stripped lower from your LGS

Superior metal fabricators is where i did mine, He only shuts down his CNC when he's got a batch to run through so you might have to wait a bit, just call and ask when the next build is. Pretty cool guy.

'renting machine time' on a $60k+ fully loaded HAAS cnc mill with autochange tool function that cuts PERFECTLY and takes all of about 10 minutes... They're working on an all billet AR10 80% which may or may not be available now. The prototype looked **SWEET!!!!** As to 'quality of the 80% paperweight'.... you know there are only like 4 factories that make the lowers right? (unless it's billet) Whatever lower you got came from one of those four factories. Just how much difference do you really think there is? I think theres a topic on ar15.com that compares the 4 lowers- as I recall, the difference is insignificant/irrelevant. Last edited by postal; 08-22-2013 at 10:59 AM.. |

Thanks for the hookup.. Got a PM from AllynB last night. It seems he will only rent time on the cnc for the 80% lowers he sales. I have no problem with that other then I don't need another 80% lower. |

another +1 for AllynB. his product is byfar the best paperweight i've handled/dealt with. and the finished product is even better compared to other places that 'rent' their machine
