Time to teach you fools how to horde ammo. After shooting quite a few rounds, here is a pic of my stash:
2x .357 10x .40 reloads from a local range 100x .22 Not pictured: completely out of .223 and 7.32x39 But you know what I do have? Plenty of shelf space. You guys just keep buying all the ammo and eventually you are going to run out of places to put it. I'm waiting for the shelving panic of 2013 to kick in, and then I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. Who's jelly now? PM me to get in on the ground floor of my California legal assault shelves (No bullet button required). |

Typically I shoot 2-4 times per month (several hundred rounds of various caliber each outing)... and I always let others (who are with me) shoot as much of my ammo they want... but even though I have plenty (pic is not all)... I can't bring myself to shoot it right now... everything I have is pre-panic purchase and since I refuse to pay absurd prices to replace, I have gone into hiatus. It's psychological for sure (I couldn't shoot everything I have if I tried)... maybe by definition I'm a hoarder, but I'm reluctant to let my stash dip too low... |

This thread is laughable. You have one group trying to show off their big collections, which are pretty measly if you ask me. Then, another group whining because they didn't prepare themselves for the inevitable.

Hey anybody knows if manufacturers are working overtime and at increased production to deal with the current panic? I am talking about real info. D not assumptions. The OP said companies are producing "at the same rate as they have been historically" or something like that.
Thank you

I've seen it from several sources, and I'm sure it's been posted on CGN... here's a link from quick google search: http://www.forbes.com/sites/ralphben...-conversation/ Since it's our tax dollars paying for it, I guess we're part of the hoarding problem (even those that are anti-hoarding) |

I really dont't understand how a group of people who claim to be fighting for our constitutional right neglect the most basic one. As a citizen of the United States, we are all granted equal opportunity, not equal outcome.
We all had the same opportunity to either "hoard" ammo or buy with the intention of reselling. For reference, I posted a pic of my ammo stash somewhere on the page and am definitely one on the losing end of the ammo hoarding game. But, I will stand up for those that went about it differently. |

If I don't horde it, someone else will. It is almost like currency these days.

speaking economics... this is windfall profits at its best. The invisible hand will have the increased demand of ammo lead to increased profits per unit. This will naturally lead to an increase in supply (ammo production) by manufactures. I don't buy that ammo manufacturers aren't taking advantage of this, and trying to increase production to compete with each other for this opportunity.

The demand is artificial and will crash at some point. Plus, this is already lights-out, 24/7 production. It's not like all they have to do is train some people for a second or third shift. A material increase in production will require significant capital investment and if they see a crash coming anytime soon, the manufacturers might well be reticent to invest $$$.

1,000 Rounds does not a hoarder make....
I am not hoarding, I am stocking up.

I don't think that the OP should be telling big sis to stop hoarding ammo. Especially with such a poor Itrader/character rating. Stuff like this will get him put on her dreaded domestic list.

saw a number of guys at a LGS grab a bag of loose 100rd pack of .223 ammo (I think they were re-loads too) for $109+tax...i actually overheard the guy say, "I can't believe I'm buying this, but i NEED it"...
glad i bought pre-panic, but now i can't shoot as much as i want.

I agree, the problem isn't people that have stocked up prior to the panic. I have about two years supply of ammo and reloading supplies that I mostly picked up whenever it was on sale. This isn't hoarding, it's bargain hunting and planning. I think the OP po'd people in this category, but I don't think he meant them. It's more the recent panic buyers that pay high prices buying anything they can their hands as well as the speculators that are causing the problem. But that's their preogative and the free market will adjust and I'm hoping by the end of the year we will have a huge surplus and I can start resupplying at bargain prices again.

Another casualty of hoarding/speculating is .22LR shooting as part of youth groups. I guess the different groups like the BSA, 4H, Indian Guides, etc. should have all stocked up a lot more, aye? :/

Would you pay $65 for a box of CCI Blazer, 525 rounds? That's the highest I've seen it for recently. And it sells, so somebody thinks that's reasonable.

For me, shooting is an enjoyable pastime, if I can't find ammo for something, I guess I won't be shooting it. Aside from .22lr though, I can shoot as long as I have primers and lead.
But you know, instead of going shooting, I'll go for a bike ride if I have no ammo. Sure sure, save some for home defense or whatever, but that's like one box of 50. yes, my skills will degrade, I'll just have to pick it up after the panic. |

The problem with "panic" is that people think they need it. Seriously, if I were on a ship I thought was sinking, I'd pay $10,000 for a life jacket. The guy who doesn't think the ship is sinking will gladly sell me his life jacket. |
