Got 1K of .223 somewhere. If I can find it, I'll sell it too.

If you have no bullets for your gun you are going to pay whatever it is to at least get some shells. After that its a waiting game to see where it all ends up. The new norm for 22lr may between .06 to .09 for bulk when you add in shipping and or tax when all this dies down. Bought Fed 525 bricks for .038 cents a round in November/December last year. I expect to see less rounds per pack at about the same money or same rounds at a higher price. I have enough for two years or so before i hit my base limit. Hoard? No, just planning ahead for what i want to do without having to make a lot of trips to the store. I do this with other non-perishable items as well. When Gillette disposable razor 52 pack were $11.00 i stocked up(not hoarded) by the case. Now they are $23.95, i just go to the garage......You get the picture.

All this talk made me check my ammo supply. I found that I actually have six CCI Blazer 525 bricks and six 325 round boxes of Federal bulk on hand. I really had no clue -- a pair of each is in one of six plastic bags that were tossed into a cabinet. Each bag holding two bricks meant a different purchase at Wal*Mart or Big 5 from late last year when the stuff was on extended sale. I think Big 5 had Blazer for $17.95. Not sure what Wal*Mart was selling the Federal for but I wouldn't have bought it had it not been well priced.

^ this, why? becuase I(we) can

Another ridiculous thread.

Hey everyone, while you’re at it stop buying gas, gold, milk, diapers, and anything else of value so that the price will drop and I can buy it all up myself.

It's not more people are getting into shooting, it's more people are buying ammo to profit. People who don't even own guns are buying ammo at Walmart's, etc. then selling it in the parking lot for double or triple! I know of one guy who makes an extra $500 a week doing this! Don't buy from the scalpers! Let them have it and sit on the stuff till they give it away because they can't use it!

At our local Wal-Mart it's a feeding frenzy everytime they get ANY ammo in. There's a three box limit no matter what you buy. When the doors open, all the same chowderheads run for the sporting goods section, buying whatever they can get their hands on. I just stand back and smile because I "horded" my ammo long before the current shortage. Like some others I have enough stock to ride out the current "shortage"

word. I chuckle at the 3-5 people standing at the walmart ammo shelf whenever I am there buying other stuff. They all have a 'lemming' look on their face, like someone popped their balloon. I also noticed the clerk answering their questions had a little chip on his sholder the last time I was there... like he has some sort of power over people who really want to buy ammo.
I'm still opportunistic. If I see some 9mm or a brick of 22 that is not at silly prices I add it to my collection.

If ammo is so difficult to purchase at a decent price just turn to reloading be it cast lead bullets or plated/fmj bullets.

Prices have started to fall and will fall but not to where they were before this round of shortages. Four or five years ago we experienced the same thing and prices finally came down but not like they were.

Once they have you thinking that $.75 a round for .223 or 5.56 is "normal" and the price drops to $.60 a round everyone will be happy. Who remembers prices less than half that?

You guys I'm pretty new to shooting. Can you guys give me an estimate on the boxes of ammo for different calibers so I won't be scammed into paying a buttload?

The generally popular cartridges like 22lr, 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, 223, 308, 30-30, etc. By the way are the costs of 223 and 5.56 similar?

The OP is right. People need to stop going insane with the 22lr. As if one can really fortify their own home by having massive stacks of ammo. You will be the first to be taken down and robbed.
