We won't get people to stop hoarding the ammo, but ALL of use should be recycling our brass in an effort to keep prices stable and not pollute the grounds.

Interesting your friend can see end-user sales after the ammo goes from maker to distributor to store.

If ammo is still cheap, I would buy it all with all the $$$ I had. A box of 9mm/50rnds was $8.97 two-three years ago. you can buy it at walmart and they were pretty much available all the time. It's the best investment you will make! If you didn't buy before... It's YOUR fault! Don't blame the hoarders! Hoarders who purchased overpriced ammo will lose some $$$ after everything goes back to normal (if it ever happens). But they will have ammo to shoot at the meantime. Do you shoot competitively? Some people shoot 200-300 rounds per week. THEY need the ammo to practice. Some people buy it for re-sale.... Some of them have a family to feed and need extra $$$.

the argument that people are just shooting alot more is bull****, go to gun broker and check out the ammo pages, people are selling thousands and thousands of rounds, alot of them manufactured in the last year, all of it being sold for twice what it was a year ago, I myself have been buying here and there since the last time this happened four years ago so i am not hurting for ammo, but it would be nice to at least be able to pick up a box or two once in a while, it will settle down just like last time this happened

It isn't hoarding until you are purchasing calibers that you don't own or plan to own, but you want the ammo in the remote chance you pick up someone else's .32 ACP in a gunfight.

I bought bullets (the lead part) and reloading dies for .357 and I don't have a .357!

(I'm waiting for S&W 627s to come back in stock somewhere at a non-crazy price)

Hmm.... nope going to continue to hoard as much as I can get my hands on. But hey, thanks for telling the rest of us what to do for your own gain. Good thing your not the Senate Majority leader, then you could just nicely ask everyone to please stop buying assault rifles and I guess we should just follow your advice!

I know I am late to this post but why is it that people are hoarding ammo and stores have inventory. I like to increase my "inventory" and rotate it just like stores. I am not a hoarder!

Look at the bright side, people. When this is all over, a lot of shooters are going to have a lot of ammo stocked up. So in a SHTF or EOTWAWKI scenario a lot more people will be properly equipped.

I'd have to say that if the mfgr is producing the same amount they always did, then they are a bigger part of the problem than the people buying it. In reality though, the politicians deserve the lion's share of the blame for the shortage, since it's their dimwitted ideas that are freaking people out nationwide.
Good post. With the State & Feds trying to steal our rights away, (even to buy ammunition) how can anyone tell others not to hoard ammo.

If I had more disposable income, I'd be buying more.

Hoarding won't do you any good if not enough people are joining the fight...

IF...things get so bad we have to defend ourselves or our liberty.

I plan on sharing what I have or trading it for items of equal worth. (no price gouging).

I have some silver that I've "hoarded" since the sixties. Should I sell it at those prices? Or should I sell for the same price I can buy it today?

Just asking?

We can hoard if we want to
We can leave your friends behind
Cause DiFi don't dance
And if she don't dance
Well she's no friend of mine
Say, we can shoot whatever caliber we want to
From a place where they will never find
And we can act like we got all ammo of this world
Because your stash is far behind

Good point. But is it wise to have more than you can carry. Unless pre-positioned?

Think of all those Arab dictators who had everything and all that $$$$. In the end they were down to what they could carry, before they got that hangman's noose, vasectomy and colon exam at knife point. All that hoarding and pre-positioning went to waste for these guys.

We have to be able to effectively utilize what we have, otherwise it is a wasteful endeavor. Realizing what this means is the difficult part.

I want to know if people think that they can change the behavior of the masses with a thread like this.

I'm tempted to make a new thread, "PPT ME ALL OF YOUR GUNS AND PAY ALL APPLICABLE FEES!!!" And see how it goes.

I'm not sure but I think it's working. This afternoon I passed on a case of .223 because I didn't want to hoard anymore. Somehow, some way, I think the gun world is better off because of it, because someone has that case of .223 and is hoarding it instead of me...

This is just a public service announcement to let people know who is really causing this so called shortage. Also, AWB has fallen out of senate and put on the back burner by the democrats. So, no more scare of an AWB for now.

Lets all stop buying everything and let the market settle back down.

Should go well, just make sure to speak in a condescending tone and tell us we're not edjamacated enough to understand.

Don't forget to point out your industry connections that sell you guns at at half of wholesale pricing.

Probably wouldn't hurt to tell us you were a Navy Seal or that you know Chuck Norris or something.
