Default STOP HOARDING AMMO!!

Hey Everyone,

Just spoke to one of my friends which of whom works for a reputable ammo manufacturer. Basically, ammo is still being produced in the same numbers as it has historically, however, hoarders are the reason to blame for this "Shortage". People need to refrain from purchasing such large amounts of ammo and storing it as if they are going to go to war. Those people which of whom are hoarding are throwing off and fabricating a shortage that should not exist. Prices are at an all time high and hoarders are promoting this behavior by buying all the ammo they can possibly get their hands on.

This is just a public service announcement to let people know who is really causing this so called shortage. Also, AWB has fallen out of senate and put on the back burner by the democrats. So, no more scare of an AWB for now.

Lets all stop buying everything and let the market settle back down.

You should have stocked up sooner. Stop complaining about it and deal with it. Johnny Come Lately's are going to pay the high cost, or do without. You are asking others to stop hoarding so you can..

I agree. Stop hoarding I cannot even find ammo to shoot. My weekly range trips are down to monthly range trips.

Why is this in the handgun section? Stop littering.

Honestly, I purchase ammo directly from the manufacturer. I get wholesale prices regardless of the environment. I just wanted to help regular joes out and point out a flaw in the current ammo market. Ammo should not be this expensive! Retail stores are making a great margin on all they sell. Turnover is unbelievable right now. Also, many of you might know this but certain stores are participating in this so called "Shortage" and only releasing ammo little by little. Its a mind game guy, the less you see on the shelves the more you will be inclined to buy at high prices.

That's the problem. More and more people are starting to get into shooting so production has to increase in order to meet the increased demand.

Oh, and btw...I'm going to keep hoarding 'til the day I die.

Buy it cheap, stack it deep. You have no one but yourself to blame for not having a healthy supply on hand. On the other hand, if it's an SHTF situation and you need a forklift to move your cache, you're doing it wrong.

Again, im not saying this to discourage anyone. Im just saying that if everyone nationwide takes a break on ammo purchase for a month to let supply catch up ammo can be hoarded at much lower prices. You have to let the market catch back up. The more inventory a store has sitting on its shelves the lower the prices will be.

Don't worry when the current crop of hoarders can't afford to buy ammo at the prices that they helped to raise they will stop buying.

In the end, the prices will come back down and all the hoarder-come-lately's will be sitting on mounds of overpriced ammo.

Are you trying to lead us to believe that if you walked into a store and seen 12 boxes of 22 LR, you would only buy two and leave the rest for us?

I was just kidding. I experienced this same shortage in 2009 so I got into reloading to be better prepared. But even components were scarce. I remember paying $60 for 1k large pistol primers and I thought it was a good deal.

If I had to guess, the madness won't really end until 2015. That's when you should stock up for the next shortage of 2017.

WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG WRONG.

The AWB bill has been blocked from being voted on in the senate, but they are still pushing VERY HARD to get their UCB (gun confiscation) and other anti-gun measures passed. Also there's nothing to say that they won't try to attach a new AWB as a rider to a different bill. There ABSOLUTELY IS still a scare of an AWB or other totalitarian anti-gun measures. You've either fallen for their propaganda, or (I think more accurately because of your join date and post count) you're a shill from the anti-gun crowd.

ETA: Nice iTrader feedback by the way.

Anyone recently got into reloading? I'll be taking some lessons this weekend before I invest. It's about time. Every walmart, big 5, and even bass pro, that I visited was cleaned out.

Let's run down the recent proposed legislation at the fed and/or state level:

5 cent per bullet tax
100% ammo registration
limits on amounts purchased
psychological testing to buy ammo
ammunition license required

Gee, now why would people be stocking up? Hmmm.

I'd have to say that if the mfgr is producing the same amount they always did, then they are a bigger part of the problem than the people buying it. In reality though, the politicians deserve the lion's share of the blame for the shortage, since it's their dimwitted ideas that are freaking people out nationwide.

I was watching that show "Hoarders" on A&E, and this guys family turned him in to get help... his whole house was tunnels of ammo... He didn't even own guns... and when they finally cleaned out the house and posted all the ammo in the FS section, they found like 4 dead cats and and a decomposed corpse they believe to be Jimmy Hoffa..

1 it’s hard to call it hording when you actually shoot it…
2 I haven’t bought a single box of ammo since the panic
3 We are seeing a huge increase of new gun owners

I’m sure plenty of others on this forum are like me… who have done their shopping, are sitting on a stash, and just riding it out.

And 4. Please don’t reload… because I hate seeing primer and powder shortages lol. It’s a lot harder than it looks and takes too much time… trust me, it’s not worth it. Just keep going to Walmart every day in hopes for more ammo. It will pay off.
