My pistol build from an 80% reciever flat & Romy G kit.
I built it in my garage using this tutorial: http://www.arizonaresponsesystems.co...tolbuild.shtml
Modified Romy G furniture, stained with Minwax Red Oak & sealed w/semi gloss clear polyurethane
Tapco G2 single hook trigger
Tapco muzzle brake
SolarTactical maglock
Duracoat Colt Gray finish (looks like it belongs on a Russian T-72 tank)

Mine will be this length!
You did not have to change out the FCG or Brake. 922(r) does not apply to pistols, unless you did it because your kit didnt come with original parts.

I like it! put a 10/20 in there!

247 - The kit was incomplete. The muzzle, throat and slant brake were pretty corroded which is why I decided to buld the kit into a pistol.

I agree, a 10/20 would be compact and easier to change than the ten rd. magazine. I have a 10/30 mag & the thing definitely looks evil.

Are these more recent builds? I'm still confused as to how to go about doing one of these legally. I know the thread that Oaklander started has some out of date information on voluntary registration, etc...

If anyone has information for me I'd love to hear exactly how you went about this, PMs are okay.

I can see these things being cop bait at a public range, and would definitely need all bases covered.

GoodEyeSniper,

- You can build a pistol receiver, from a flat at an AK build party as long as you have a 0 rd. sled (must begin life as a single shot pistol). It is advisable to etch/mark the receiver as a pistol and a unique serial number (but is not required unless you intend to sell it in the future).

- It needs to have some sort of mag lock since the magazine is outside of the pistol grip.

- You can only use 10 rd. magazines in order remain leagal in Ca.

- Transport in a vehicle just as you would any other pistol, in a lockable case and unloaded.

I'm sure someone will chime in and correct any misinformation I may be disseminating .

Jeff

Just waiting for a couple of mounts, used some painters tape to check the usability of the light, laser, and red dot

Draco pistol, with CSS selector, Promag 10 rounder, Radlock, PWS ak muzzle break, BSA stealth optic with light and laser reconfigured and uncle mikes single point sling mount and black hawk single point sling.

I have the CSS ambi charging handle and gas cover but for the pistol it doesnt work for righties as well as using it on a rifle

Even more eviler...

Here is the bipod. It fits quite nicely.
http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/Vie...Item=160495866

I will need to shorten it a couple of inches to clear the mag when its folded, but otherwise its good to go.

I currently have the Tapco quad like the one on the previous page with a green laser mounted on top. Personally, I don't plan on shooting anything past 50yds with this thing. Its strictly a CQB weapon IMHO.

Default More progress

Got the bipod shortened and the bipod feet rears chopped off and rewelded. Still need to blast and park the feet. Almost done...

As far as folding it back it works fine. The legs stay open wide when it rotates back and only come together when they are parallel to the barrel. There is no interference with the 30 round mag. There is also no interference inserting or removing the mag, although if I had made it the original planned length, there might have been a problem.

With 10/30 mag:

Sorry it took so long to get the VM1's in, but sometimes other people are the cause. Vinz did all the work and the coater guy took his sweet sweet time getting them back to us. Oh well we have 100 more coming in hopefully sooner then later.

Here is a simple pic of mine,

Default Draco range report and pics

My Draco's first range report.
Took it out yesterday to Sac Valley and it was beautiful spring day, with a little wind. My son and I spent most of the time sighting in a new AR build I had done and an SU-16 I picked up. For the curious, we both agreed the AR ws the nicest but the SU wasn't a slouch either. My son thought it was very light and handy and the ability to fold was a big plus.

Anyway, we didn't have much time to shoot the Draco before the range was closing, only going through about 60 rounds of old Chinese made ammo (that looks copper cased?) that I bought off I guy at work who had bought it for an SKS but then sold the gun and for some reason kept the ammo. He sold it to me at a steal and its been sitting in the safe for at least seven years or so.

Couldn't wipe the silly smile off of either of our faces. The range officer came over to see what the noise was all about and he saw it was a Draco and started laughing - he knew how much fun they were. We only had enough time to shoot it at about 7 yds and I was surprised at how tight the groups were. Not much louder then a .45 and didn't see much of a fireball - only a few sparks now and then.

Observations:
1. The Tapco forend furniture held up well, but the sliding cover on the bottom rail kept wanting to work itself off, so I just took it off. If I decide to keep it on I'll have to figure a way to fix it in place.
2. Cleaning rod worked itself loose during firing. Don't know if that happens with the stock furniture or if its because of the Tapco hardware.
3. No FTF's or FTE's during our session - just pure rock and roll.

The obligatory pics and video (sorry for the cellphone quality - regular camera's batteries died before we could take these):

Me and the Draco:

My Son:

Time to reload. Oh how I wish this was a free state so I could use my 30 rd mags and no mag lock!

The last three rounds of the day:

I have a Draco from Henderson and I had the same problems too. The dust cover would fly off after every shot. It looks like the bolt rubs up against it when firing. Does anyone else have the same problem? What did you do to fix it? Thanks.

Try using a small self tapping screw on the front or back end of the cover.

Hey guys,

I had to get in on the fun as well! I built myself a "DJ Edition" replica. I tried to put just enough changes on it to make it mine though. These things are just too much fun!

Tapco Grip FDE
Tapco Muzzle Brake
Midwest Industries Handguard (this thing is pretty awesome!)
Gear Sector Finger Stop
Elzetta light mount (great price, works great)
Nextorch light with pigtail pressure switch (great deal)
10 Round Pro Mag
Assault Planet Mag Lock (MAKE SURE you loctite this!)

The ST can be a pain...I've been using the Glock Disassembly Tool and it works great for me. I drilled a small hole through the handle to attach a lanyard for my wrist and I'm GTG.

It's only $5.99 w/03 FFL discount...

Make sure you've got the cover on the right way. It's easy to put it on so that the bottom lip of the cover goes over the edge on the rear (the trunnion?). If you put it on like that, it will definitely fly off after being shot or even just charging the first round. Make sure the bottom lip of the rear edge of the top cover goes on the inside lip of the rear plate. It will take a little bit more force to snap it in place than it would if you put it with the lip outside. Look at some of the close up pics posted in this thread - you will see the proper way it should look.

If you have it in place on the front edge lip and also inside edge of the rear plate and it is all snapped in correctly and it still is coming off, then there must be something wrong with the cover dimensionally and it would be time to call Henderson.

I thought about using a screw - don't know if the cover is really that functional so I may just run with it off.

We may rag on AR bullet buttons but they are so much more functional than an AK mag lock - at least the Solar Tactical. I had all kinds of tools with me at the range and the thing that worked best were my car keys to get it to release.

I'll have to try the Glock take down tool suggested - I've had a Glock forever but still have not got around to getting that tool.

I was at RCGE the other day and the guy behind the counter was demo'ing a converted Saiga to a customer - it had some type of mag lock that appeared to have a purpose built tool for it, sort of a wide paddle design plastic handle with a short rod sticking out of it that seemed to release the mag very easily once inserted. Didn't get what type it was, but it definitely wasn't a Glock tool.

That is a Raddlock.

Looks good with the Bulgy wood Gio! So you decide to keep the Draco? You can go double fisted with the Lancaster in your other hand lol!
