Default Jailed a Ruger American!

So, i was at sportsman's the other day looking for the new Ruger American 22. Sales dude said good luck, probably wont start showing up for nuther 3-5 months. He hates the way Ruger announces new guns before their ready to ship them. Im not surprised, been through the new gun release delays before. Next day im at local mom n pops lookin at their used rifles and make an off hand comment bout the Ruger American. Dude just walks away behind the un-aparent to me magic curtain and returns with a frkn boxed up Ruger American bolty!!! Nine more days and she's all mine! Couldn't believe it. Just a reminder to myself, don't forget the locals!

I couldn't wait for Turners San Marcos which just had a guess of 6-8 weeks, so I paid full retail $329 at the "new" gun store, Gunthers, in Carlsbad. Good start for a new store. The bolt was tough to operate, as widely reported.

Turner's at Fountain Valley had the Ruger American .22 on Friday. I checked it out. Seems like a well-made gun. The bolt action was nice and smooth; better than I had expected. The little devil is dancing on my shoulder.

I'm on the fence on buying a standard model vs the compact. Standard is in stock at my local Turners but, I hesitated on buying it since I wanted to get a side by side comparison with the compact. Is there any significant advantage on these range and/or accuracy wise with the longer barrel?
