I went with a Vortex 1-4x scope.

Most fun optic I put on the 10/22 to date. I like scopes, but I didn’t want anything big so this is perfect for how I use the rifle (plinking / target)

I have a Bushnell 4X on mine and a Simmons 3X9 on my daughters.
They do just fine.

I used to have a Simmons 3x9 but removed it to teach the daughter iron sights. No problems with it and a great price for an entry level scope.

Any if you really want a nice mount... I recommend the DNZ 1 piece.

The Muller APT is also very popular scope for the 10/22

+1 , I have both the DNZ mount and Mueller APV

http://www.opticsplanet.com/mueller-...fle-scope.html

http://www.opticsplanet.com/dnz-dedn...ope-mount.html

Both great products, work well and no probelms with both.

Less than $200 for everything

Use the lowest possible to clear the objective of the scope you intend to use.

I tend to put Leupold Mark-4 16x scopes on my .22's. If mounted on a 25moa rail, the elevation in that model allows for dialing subsonic 40gr .22LR ammo out to 430 yards from a 50y zero:

It just depends on what you plan to do with your 10/22. For hunting or plinking I like Weaver's RV7 2.5-7x28 rimfire (~$150) for it's small size and very good optical and mechanical quality. If you want a BDC reticle then the Nikon Prostaff 3-9x40 rimfire w/BDC (~$150) is the way to go. The Weaver RV7 is a tad better but either will work.

If you plan to do serious target shooting out to 100yds then a Weaver V16 or V24 (~$300-400) are excellent choices.

I was seriously considering a Nikon P22 earlier this week after a miserable experience trying to shoot squirrels at 100+ yards with 10/22 iron sights.

Ended up putting a leupold mark AR I had lying around on it, but I think I would have been more than happy with that Nikon.

Current favorite for 10/22 is the Leupold VXII 2-7X. I think 2-7X is perfect for the range that a 10/22 is effective in.

I have several 10/22's set up differently and the Leupold 2x7 is my favorite as well. It is a great all around scope unless you are making a bench/target gun.
