Default OLL ban to be decided on in July?

I attended the Orange Co. Wild Wild West show over the weekend. Lots of OLL and uppers...One of the vendors informed me that I had better purchase some lowers soon.., due to pending legislation which is supposedly set to err one way or the other early this summer!

Did not discuss in detail..Anyone know what case he's referring to? I asked if
he was referring to the federal case- Heller, but he alluded that this is a seperate Ca. descision on OLL.

yes, because you know, all reliable information comes from the internet!

usually with salesman its half truth and half BS. i am not going to dismiss the claims entirely; i do know its a common sales tactic. suckering the customer into a few __(insert cool product here)_____ because they will be banned next week.

but i did hear something similar from a friend.

There is NO pending legislation related to OLLs.

AB2728 was passed in 2006 so the DOJ could worm its way out of the 'listing' situation - you think they wanna open that can o' worms again?

Sometimes I think the function of Calguns is half to refute bad info from gunshops and half to refute bad info from DOJ.

I hear the same thing everytime I go. It changes from "You've go 2 weeks hurry", "there's pending legislation you better buy now", to "these will be illegal sonn better buy now." Ignore the crap people feed to you, if you want the truth come to us.

Reminds me of a magazine article on Japan some time back. The author added up the proportion of Japanese who believed in Roman Catholicism, Shinto and Bhuddism and seemed surprised that it came to well over 100%.

The reason is that at least some Japanese find no conflict in believing two, or even three, of these simultaneously.

Cool

Of course, being a Calguns afficionado, I knew I would have come across this sort of news here...once I mentioned to the sales agent that I have been reading up about OLL builds on calguns he quickly concluded the coversation, walked away, and talked to his co worker. There from a shop in santa ana, ca. Can't hate on the sales attempt tho, I'm a salesman myself!

Yeah that was me. I told the guy there was a ban coming so he would buy a lower. He bought it. I do that all the time. I also sell lowers for $250 too. Suckers!

I am sure he is referring to the new dealer's bill where we have to get a DOJ approval # before firearms can be sent in or around the state. Some people think the DOJ will hold up OLL purchases through this process. I am pretty sure any such actions on their part would be easily traceable and would garner the attention of the courts post haste.

So I jump ship in San Francisco and make my way over to Cow Palace, and I get on as a looper at a table over in the show. A looper, you know, a buyer, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? Eugene Stoner Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first table with him. I give him the OLL. He hauls off and whacks one - big hitter, the Lama - long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the show and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total gun consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

Heh, the most I tell people to do is make sure they've got at least a couple stripped lowers before the next president gets in, given that all the candidates are gun grabbers. If they've got their lowers, they don't HAVE to go building 'em up.

Of course, I get folks asking me "when they're going to ban 50 DTC", and I can't help but wonder if some guys just get tired of giving the honest "Eh, as soon as they can figure out how they can package it, but not before" answer.

There is a minor modification to what all FFL's have to do to send all firearms into California after 7/1. It has nothing to do with what types of firearms are sent in and therefor doesn't impact OLLs anymore than any other firearm.

There's a blond woman at the Costa Mesa show who has been selling that line O crap for years.
Last time I was there with my nephew she tried to tell us how we needed to buy her spendy armor right now because Diane Feinstein was working on legislation to bad armor in Cali.
I reminded her Diane is a US Senator and no longer in the Cali Senate....she was unswayed by facts.
You might think a lawyer(so she claims) would know better.
Then again........

I guess she is no worse than the guy from Cammenga that show who had a table selling compasses.
At 1000 hrs on Saturday he had no compasses to sell.
No literature on compasses, nor did he have any order forms or really anything but a table, a big sign, a little TV with a video of the crappy magazine loader he was also selling but didn't have any of those on hand either.

If it were not for OLLs and ammo I wouldn't go, I didn't go to the last CM show.
They are just getting weird anymore.

The only thing I can think of that correlates "ban" with July is the Heller decision. Someone may be thinking that if Heller goes the wrong way (i.e. no individual right or there is a right but banning assault weapons doesn't violate it) that there might be a ban almost immediately.

I think the notion is far off base, but I can plausibly see someone believing that, or at least believing that they can pitch it and get others to believe it.
