Default Ventura County Fair

So this year the Ventura County Fair will be running everyone through metal detectors before the can come in. As I generally don't go to such events, it has no impact on me. But if they would just keep out the bangers, I may consider popping in.

On the website for the fair they had a note specifically prohibiting concealed carry permit weapons.

Because it would be impossible for an accomplice to hand a gun over or through a fence on the perimeter of the facility or for a banger to have stashed a gun anywhere around the fairground. As a lifelong county resident, personally I thought our fair has always kind of sucked anyway and I don't go but not being able to CCW in gang banger central is just one more reason to not go.

A little heads up. Outside of the Federal and State offices where it is illegal to carry a firearm, any other entity can put up all the signs, banners, websites prohibiting firearms they want. If you have a permit-license to carry, all they can do is ask you to leave, if you dont, then its trespassing. Signs meen jack squat, unless we are back to the once again, Federal and State offices. If theyre using metal detectors, you may want to leave it secured somewhere else. the words Prohibited and Illegal are completely diff.

False, utterly and completely.

Many counties and cities have ordinances prohibiting firearms in parks, county/city buildings/property, etc. There is never an exemption for LTC in these ordinances. No, there's no state preemption of such ordinances. If the fair is held on the property of a county or city, and if there's such an ordinance in that county or city, carrying with an LTC is a misdemeanor. All of this is well-established. Search the threads.

This is not the same thing as private businesses with signs.
