Default SF Bay Area FFL that will transfer mail order ammo?

So...reading this thread about 2018 internet ammo purchases --- https://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/...1395795&page=2

Been stocking up on 9mm and 5.56. 9mm --- $0.22/round for Speer 147 gr, TMJ, Cleanfire to $.28/round for Federal 147gr, JHP hydra-shok. 5.56/223 --- $.30/round Federal 223 FMJ

Given the cost of ammo at the range or in a store, has anyone found an FFL that will transfer ammo? Fee? OR is there a store that will give good discounts if you buy a case of 1000 of a particular brand/caliber that they have to special order?

thanx

I'd recommend going to your local gun store and talking to the owner about doing a bulk-discount on a special order.

By the way, Dick's has a Price-Matching policy which applies to (major) online retailers including Walmart and Cabella's https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/s/price-match-policy

Great tip, but wonder if Ammo will get excluded next year.

Dick's may eventually figure that out. I hope not soon.

UG Imports lets you ship Ammo to them. You just have to email them and let them know ahead of time.

Just took advantage of a Browning rebate -- $100 rebate and purchased a Browning Buck Mark Coutour -- http://www.browning.com/news/promoti...-nov-2017.html

Bought it from Peninsula Guns in Millbrae. They also told me that --

1. $25 a case to receive mailorder ammo.
2. They try to be close to mailorder prices on ammo. Next time i need ammo, i will give them a chance to price and do the math.

When a LGS accepts ammo shipments for you do they have to collect sales tax?

Elite Armory in Castro Valley told me they will accept orders from online retailers no larger than 10 cases and charge 10% of invoice +$35 fee. They are great folks there, too.

But it's very hard to beat free at 29 outdoor gear. And the guys at 29 are really really great as well. I have a feeling though that Elite Armory is prepping for post 2019 and just getting ahead of the curve I think everybody will have a similar fee structure then.

Is that 10% they are collecting state tax or part of the intake fee? If it's the latter, they can kick rocks.

I did some asking. It's part of their fee. There are better places to go for prices out seems. But I like them for just about everything else.

Mount Pleasant Arms (mparms.com) just sent an email about ammo transfers. He's offering a fixed fee of $25-45:

+++++1 on 29 Outdoor Gear!!! A bunch of great guys and knowledgeable to boot! A little too far for me even though we live in Martinez to buy a gun there, but it can be great to combine a trip to the wine country and picking up a case of ammo!

Ballistic Precision in Santa Clara appears to do ammo transfers for online orders:

http://www.guntransfers.com/ammunition-transfers.html

It's about $5 more than Mount Pleasant Arms for similar shipments (http://www.mparms.com/Ammo-Transfers-_ep_92.html), but you can probably get more-convenient appointment times.

Riddle Custom Firearms in Brentwood does it for free (although I would give them a $10 bill for the service if you're not a regular customer), unless it's there for more than a week. Great FFL transfer prices too--only $25 + $25 DROS for in-state handguns, or $50 for all other transfers.

RMB in Milpitas will accept any ammo order size you like and only charge you $10 to pick it up. Gotta grab it quickly though...he doesn't store for free so you gotta grab it on day 1 or he will charge you storage

Very cool guy who wants to help fellow shooters...$10 fee no matter how much you order

Thank you for the information!
How did you set up the shipment? Give him a call and let him know it is on the way?

Was in a small shop saturday for something and jokingly asked if all the boxes on the floor were ammo shipments.

Yep.

Some had been there for MONTHS. This from a shop that offered to do us gun owners a favor and being the nice guys by not charging a transfer fee or storage fee.

Who the eff orders cases of ammo just to leave them at the shop for months?

Gun owners can be a weird bunch.

Given I'm up that way from time to time, this is excellent info. I will contact them for sure. Thanks!

At https://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/ffl.php you can search a list of FFLs which is annotated to indicate whether they accept ammo. Some, but not all, results indicate the price for the ammo transfer.

Pricing has changed now

Now it’s $5 per 250 rounds and $5/day storage fee

Sadly not quite a deal if buying bulk quantities

These guys are awesome... not charge for all the ammo you can transfer.. .Pay tax only.

I have moved all my business to that shop. I use them for my PPTs and any other gun purchases I need locally

Default Black Dog Armory

I've ordered from Lucky Gunner and had the order shipped to Black Dog Armory (Fremont).

The only problem was with Federal "sometimes" Express.

I recommend contacting them before ordering to ensure they have your contact info.

They also have a good selection at the shop.

Big, big thumbs-up for them.

They're not a traditional store-front (business is done by appointment only), but they're a class-act through and through, and they don't charge a red cent to have ammo sent to them (you just have to arrange it first).
