Talking Remington 870 Help!

This all started towards the end of sporting clay shooting with my Remington 870 Express Magnum that has about 1,000 shells through it. I ran out of ammo and my friend let me have some of his Federal. I went through roughly 10 shots of the federal without much issue but I did feel like the cycle didn’t feel as smooth as the Winchester I was using. On the 11th shot of the Federal batch the action got stuck trying to eject the empty shell. I hit the stock and it was enough to eject the empty shell. I went for a second shot and when I pulled the trigger it didn’t fire. I took the shell out and cycle the gun a couple times. I test it with a dry fire but nothing at all. When I got home I was cleaning the gun and inspecting the trigger group. I can not see anything bent or moving parts not cooperating. I look in the housing and I do not see anything bent or scratched. So with the trigger group removed the trigger works flawlessly and resets like the way it’s suppose to. When I reinstalled the trigger group and reassembled the shot gun back together the first dry fire works. When I cycle the action it will not fire again. It’s like the trigger won’t reset and the action doesn’t lock because you’re capable of cycling it back and forth. Is there anyone that may have experienced this and able to assist me with this issue? Thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

I don't know if this helps but I keep a extra trigger in my safe . Sometimes new take offs are about 40$ online, the builders take them out of the express and build a tactical gun with a different trigger .

Thank you, my only thought is if the trigger works flawlessly till the barrel is installed than it may not be the trigger.

I don't know how hard you slammed it on the deck to clear it, but I would remove the forearm and check the action bars to see if they got bent. If the action bars don't lock the bolt up, the trigger will stay in dis-connect.

Glad you have her working again.

I only had an 870 for a short time so I know very little about them. What made you suspect the tube assembly was the issue?

Thanks for any insight.

Respectfully
Kyle

Thank you. I had assumed that but I've assumed things incorrectly before.

The 870 is a great platform. Stay with it.
