Stupid question:
I was always on the lookout for a SP-01 tactical and found a few specimens on this thread. Knowing that the Ca DOJ roster approves of the CZ 75 SP-01, does this include the tactical model? I haven't seen any of the tactical models (with decocker) inside the store display cases so I had doubts about ever getting one in California. Every time I ask a gun store clerk I can't get a clear answer from them.

Not a stupid question! I see this in a lot of threads, and the more experienced forum members who know the law tell us that the item is *specific* in it's very nature, not to be loosely interpreted, even if the variation in the model is trivial such as this weapon. It leads to confusion of course, but if the model is specifically not on the roster it's not allowed to be sold. Your SP-01 Tactical will need to come to you via PPT, intrafamilial transfer and so forth, technically it's not on the roster because the word "Tactical" is not present.

It's a bit of a grey area because the SKU number isn't on the chart like other models, 01152 is the SP-01 and 01153 is the SP-01 Tactical. If your local shop is friendly, ask them to call the DOJ (or whomever) and get the exact SKU of the allowed item. I might do that as well just for my own knowledge, since I think the info the shops can look up on their special computer have more detail than what we see on that webpage.

Ok, My 75b has the word 'tactical' on it. Comes with a different black trigger and rubber grips to go along with the two tone coating.

Mike,

That is the CZ75b Tactical model which you have. It is the "true" Tactical, one of a limited edition run of only 1K units (sorry, not collectible) from a few years ago. It predates the SP-01 and the Tactical Sport models. There's another difference between what you have and other CZ75b's, the wording of the caliber on the slide. The Tactical says 9mm Para while the other CZ75's say 9mm Luger.

Cool, thanks for the info (even if it's not mine ) - I started to do a little bit of Googling on that and was coming up empty but then got pulled away for some work, you know how it is.

Any chance you have a webpage link about this model? I don't even see it anywhere on czub.cz of cz-usa.com, you'd think they'd at least have a page like for the 30th Anniv. edition and whatnot.

mike100: wanna sell it?

It seems as if CZ-USA only keeps info on their website for current models. Information on this was removed from their website the following year, after they'd sold them all.

somebody sold one here a few months ago with extra mags and stuff for 4 bills. I hesitated..oh well.

I forgot about the 9mm para designator too. At any rate, it's one of my favorites. It just shoots and shoots. I do want to get a real action job on it though since that is the only thing I can fault with it.

This run of a 1000 two-tones were supposed to come with a kershaw knife with a "CZ" logo, but I'm quite sure, since I bought mine from Turners, that the knife promptly went in one of their pockets.

At $398 (2005), I should have thought about buying another one. The regular black one wasn't on sale..seems that the green put some buyers off as Turners discounted these on 3 separate sales. Color aside, the rubber grips as a freebie are a major plus. I would not have another 75b without the factory rubber grips.

So what's the difference between the SP-01 and the SP-01 Tactical?
As far as I can tell, the tactical has a decocking lever and the regular SP-01 has the normal safety for cocked/locked carry.

If that's the case, I think I prefer the regular SP-01.
What I really want is an SP-01 frame with a tactical sport trigger and slide.
That would be the sheet.

That's about it, and a different recoil spring I think. Oh, don't forget the word "Tacticool" stamped on the side, that means it's badder-*** than the one not stamped.

The P-01 is a shorter grip, it uses the same magazines as the 75 Compact/etc. and holds fewer rounds (if you have a >10 mag). The "normal" 75 mags fit in the SP-01, the grip is near the same (can't say that it's *exact*, but seems the same). The SP-01 is a lot heavier; the barrel wall (??) is also thicker, the P-01 is thinner walled to make it a tad lighter.

I love pulling out any of my guns and taking pictures. Here's two quick pics I just took for you showing them side by side a little better to get the size difference.

another closer look at it shows that it is not a mag baseplate, so what is it?

The larger base plate is for the 18rd magazines. The shorter base plate is for the 10rd magazines.

Thanks to everyone who posted pics so far. I really appreciate it. I just ordered mine today. There's still some confusion about the baseplates for the mags. That isn't a funnel. It really is a baseplate. I can't imagine why the 10 rounders (bases) wouldn't fit the hi-cap mags. In any event, I use Beretta Plastic baseplates on my CZ P-01's. Maybe those of you who have either version of the pistol can answer that question for us. What did your gun come with...Thin or Thick, and what capacity are your magazines? Great pictures guys...Thank you....Monsterface
