Default A few questions regarding Non-Resident Arizona CCW

Hey Fellers,

As part of our California exit strategy, I'm planning to get my AZ, non-resident concealed weapons permit. Living in Texas, I'll be driving through AZ and NM frequently so this one seemed fitting.

Anyone here gone through the process? Do you have to take an AZ-based CCW class or will they accept most from other areas? Fairly easy process?

I am not familiar with the AZ process.

The Gun Store in Vegas has a free CCW program. They run a class for Utah, Nevada and Florida.

Do Nevada you have to shoot each type of gun for your permit. One is included and to shoot he other costs $15-20 for ammo.

So you get Pistol and revolver NV permits, Utah and Florida paperwork done in one day.

Swing by the local Metro office the next morning with your paperwork and money orders, get finger printed for NV, UT and FL and go on your way.

Mail in the UT and Florida applications by mail.

It's not Arizona but it is cost effective.

I got my AZ non resident permit this year. I ordered the application from website. I got it in the mail in 5 days. I got 2 fingerprint cards done, I got bank check from my credit union, I copied my CDL, Az ID, BSIS certificates, and CA hunting license. Mailed them off, got the permit at about 5 months.

I have my AZ permit and a TX resident permit. All you need to do is call in and request an application, complete it, get finger prints, include a copy of your DL, and TX CCW (if you have one) or a copy of DD214 with Honorable discharge. $60 cashiers check and thats it. Less than 60 days later you will get it. You should be able to use any TX CCW course as your course for the AZ permit. Might as well get your TX ccw while you are at it as well...

I applied for mine earlier this year.. They accepted a copy of my CA CCW and a copy of my training cert that I got when I got my CA peremit

It's an easy process if you already have a CCW from another state they will accept a copy of that if you had to go thru training to get that states permit

Good luck

Arizona is constitutional carry. You don't need a permit to CCW there.

I think it only took about 2-3 weeks for ours to arrive.

Getting an AZ permit is definitely a good idea.

No, but an Az permit will let you carry in a number of states other than Arizona. That's he main reason I want it: reciprocity.

That's true. As screwed up as Nevada is we are probably only a days away from Nevada no longer recognizing a Nevada permit.

Effective 10/1, you only need to shoot any gun for the Nevada CCW.
