Sorry if the answer has been posted but I can't find it. Is there a charge for the build party and how much?

Expect the build party to cost somewhere around $100 if I remember correctly.

Would it be possible to get a parts kit without the slide and barrell?

You can polish them, or sand blast them or have them gunkoted or have them parkerized, many many options, they do not need to be left with no finish.

Possibly, it would require another jig another setup, more programming etc etc, all this equals higher cost to run each frame, I'm thinking the cost is already going to be at least $100 maybe even $120 to mill and drill, depending on how many people want to add the picatinny rail and flaring the magwel option we can add that option but the cost would go up since machine time per part will go up. I could add a poll to this thread so peole can vote on stuff to give me an idea of if there's a demand for that.... What do you guys think??

No, please review post #1 for this info.

Any brand standard 1911 parts should fit however, at the BP we will not be altering the programs/setups to accomodate for different tolerances using different parts kits so you may have a little more work to make a different kit fit. We intend to cut the rails tight on the frames so they are a hand fitted/finished to the slide using hand files if/when needed and lapping compound, this will give everyone the best fit and allow a build party to happen. Trying to cut everyones rails at the party to fit exactly perfect doesn't really work due to small variances in the slides unless we were to make them fit loose and nobody wants that.

so we will be able to put whatever sight we want on right.. Im asking b/c Ive seen some inexpensive RIA 1911s with sight on them that looked cheap etc... quality wise where do these stand? This would be my first time doing this so Im clueless, would we be able in the future to change parts out like for triggers and different hammers etc?

A poll sounds like a great idea, I know I am (and three other guys) willing to pay extra to have the picatinny rail milled and magwell flared.

I'm not to keen on the rail, but am curious as to the flaring of the magwell. What is the benefit?

You'll be able to swap parts around later if you wish. The sight that comes with these is a pretty basic one, I'll be upgrading mine at some point but for now the RIA ones will work.

I'll work on the poll later tonight, I'm thinking 1. rail and magwell interest 2. jig interest and then probably a few more as we go. The magwel machining would open it up to be like a funnel so when you go to change your mags it's faster and easier.

No, I just need to know how many frames people plan to do at the party, we are going to start using a new format for the parties based on number of parts per day instead of number of guests. We are also going to be doing 3 different time blocks 8AM, 12PM, and 4PM that way people don't have to wait all day if they are last on the list.

Also, please keep in mind that these are not BP reservations you guys are putting in, it is just a way for me to know what to expect when I start the BP thread. I can't take reservations for a party that doesn't even have a date scheduled yet so I'll start a new thread for that when we get closer to parts being shipped.

Group buy participants will have a 48 hour window to sign up to the build party before I open it up to everyone. I will give advance notice on when that 48 hour window will begin.

Wow - how did this GB of all GB's slip by me! LMAO. I've been slacking on tracking CGN recently...

Plz put me down for 2 Parts kits. I already have 2 frames.

I'd like another KTO 80% & parts kit IF you can do 9mm's too...

Once you figure out the CNC date I'll start working on acquiring 2 small kegs of stone.

Few questions...

1. When is the payment due date for group 1?
2. Does the slide have the dovetails already cut for sights?
3. Does the parts kit include sights? What type? Will you have a press to get the sights installed on the slide?
4. I'd be very interested in some sort of 'finishing' party -- a blueing party, anodizing, sandblasting or something like that? Not sure of options...
5. Given that the barrel, etc. are all RIA; does RIA offer any sort of warranty on the parts if they fail within some period of time? Or if the barrel isn't finished well? Obviously, I totally understand that if the frame has issues, that's my problem, but the other parts are pre-made factory parts...

Thanks!

will try to answer from what i have noticed from the thread and talking with aims

1. he hasn't set the date yet i am waiting just like you but remember the guy has like 3-4 different GP and BP going on at the same time.

2. it looks to be just a standard GI kit so don't expect a novak or a bomar cut in the slide. they look to be rdy for GI sights.

3.im not really sure since i have never owned a GI 1911. but im pretty sure u don't have to press GI sights in as i have seen people post them swapping out the sights all the time.

4.so am i. someone want to put that together? i would be in on that. or if anybody know a company that will do it shot me a pm and ill see what i can do. i want to get mine either anodized or media blasted for derokoting or paint in FDE with the slide.

5. im not sure how thats going to work since they did not build the gun you did. as for RIA customer service i have only heard good things. but i wouldn't expect any kind of warranty because we are finishing the product and fitting all the parts ourself by hand. if they do thats just going to be a BIG +. Aims correct me if im wrong on that .

side note +1 on that 9mm kit in the poll im so in for that and those rails.

All Payments are due March 1st.
2. Does the slide have the dovetails already cut for sights?
Yes
3. Does the parts kit include sights? What type? Will you have a press to get the sights installed on the slide?
Sights are included, they are just basic standard sights. Yes, I'll buy a sight pusher tool for everyone to use at the party.
4. I'd be very interested in some sort of 'finishing' party -- a blueing party, anodizing, sandblasting or something like that? Not sure of options...
I think that may be best left to each individual as people are likely to want different finishes.
5. Given that the barrel, etc. are all RIA; does RIA offer any sort of warranty on the parts if they fail within some period of time? Or if the barrel isn't finished well? I'm not aware of any warranty being offered however if you had a problem I would think they would want to take care of you.
Thanks!
Hopefully this answers your questions.

1. he hasn't set the date yet i am waiting just like you but remember the guy has like 3-4 different GP and BP going on at the same time.

2. it looks to be just a standard GI kit so don't expect a novak or a bomar cut in the slide. they look to be rdy for GI sights.

I'd be interested in a finishing party too. If anybody puts one together, PM me.
