Default Roll your own AK receivers...

I've got some kits to build but I couldn't make it to the last build party out at the compound because of a recent surgery. A friend came over today and got me set up with enough roll your own receivers to build my kits out. I already had the flats bent but needed his skill and I'm just now getting flexible enough to bend a little to do some work on AKs. It's good to have friends that will get you through hard times! I probably shouldn't mention his name (starts with a 6, ends with a 1), I don't want him to get swamped with requests for help. He's our socal AK guru! Also thanks to Mrlonewolf for popping barrel pins out for me etc. I wouldn't be surprised if these two guys have already helped others to build well over 100 or 200 AKs. I look forward to the next build party I can get to. I thought this whole spine surgery thing was going to be like a vacation. That was a massive miscalculation on my part, that's for sure.

Wishing you a speedy recovery, and hope to see you at the next BP. Take care.

You know, at this weld party we could build you a wheeled platform so at least you can yell at people and tell them what they're doing wrong.

Take care of yourself Bob.

glad to hear you're on the recovery path. i've been dealing with my illness AND moving into the new motorpad. not the end of the world but you can sorta see it from here.
the upside is a huge new shop to build vehicles and guns. downside was i had to move in before the house was completely fixed up. oh well, i'm single so live/remodel isn't a huge issue.

I look forward to being at the next build party! As far as rewelds I haven't been bitten by that bug and have determined it's probably in my best interest not to open another can of worms while I still have stamped kits to build. I know you guys will take care of the research and development to make the rewelds possible and I admire you for taking that project on. I bought a lot of parts to build rifles while I was out of work recovering. I neglected to consider that I had to stay out of the garage to avoid infection of the 7" incision the surgeon made. As if that wasn't knuckleheaded enough I didn't consider the fact that I wouldn't be able to bend, lift, or twist. I'm doing good now and I'm walking miles and going to physical therapy 3 times a week. This was a painful experience and I don't want to screw it up and have to do it again, that's for sure.
