Ouch. How did your print cards look? I am worried that mine will be rejected too because I don't feel my prints came out very legible.

They looked great to me but who knows. Was in Nevada Monday but the law hasn't changed yet anyway.

Just for the fun of it, i emailed AZCCW and asked if they could tell me if they had received my packet yet, I mailed it on 6-23-2011..they have not received it yet , or at least have not logged it in the system yet.

I am thinking all of us sending them off from California might be slowing them down quite a bit.. Or mine is lost in the mail some where , which with my luck might have happened..LOL

**UPdated 7-8 ...

OK.. I talked to AZCCW today (7-8), I mailed mine on 6-23, they received it on 6-27 but did not get it in the system till 7-5 and now its in the process etc..

Told me it was because so many of us Californians are swamping them and they are short handed right now..

so its all good to go...

I really dont stray far from Ca....NV and OR are pretty much it. The AZ permit covers NV, but does OR accept anything other than an actual OR permit? Seems interesting that they dont need to see the arm the Ca does (at least my sheriff did). Anyone know what the renewel fees will be and at what interval?

6/15/11 - Requested application packet by email
6/15/11 - Received same day response that packet would be mailed
6/18/11 - Packet recevied in mail
6/21/11 - Packet mailed to AZ DPS via certified mail
6/24/11 - Packet received by AZ DPS
6/27/11 - Recevied return receipt confirming delivery of packet
6/30/11 - AZ CCW received in mail!

So I RECEVIED my permit within 4 business days of application being delivered to DPS. That's pretty F-ING AWESOME!!!

I sent copies of my PC832 firearms certificate and my UT CCW to satisfy the training requirment. Guess that was good enough for them because they had my permit issued and had it in the mail within business days of receiving my application.

Thank you AZ......now just stay on the reciprocity list with NV dang it!

Took a total of 12 days from dropping it in the mail box. This is the way it should be.
I wonder if AZ has a surplus budget yet with all of the recent funding from CA?

Talking Just in Yesterday.

Yep mine has arrived finally, I sent it in weeks ago and they sent it back, informing me that I needed the signature for the "officer taking prints". I called them and they told me if I took my own prints I needed to sign it. So I did so and sent it back 3 weeks later and it's here. Very happy now when I go back to Vegas.

We can use either the Florida or Utah CCW permit as alternate documentation. Make a copy of the front and back of either permit and include it with the application packet forms. We will get an application packet out to you in the mail. Thank you.

Will update this post as things happen

Today 7/5: Emailed request for packet
7/5: 5 minutes later received confirmation that packet will be mailed.

FIVE. FREAKING. MINUTES.

I also asked them if me being a Handgun Safety Certificate Certified Instructor was enough to meet the training/safety qualifications, but they couldn't tell me over email. I will mail in copies of everything and see what happens.

Here's a link to the statute that spells it out. Sub section N covers exemptions to the 8 hr. training course. If you've ever taken hunter safety or any public or private firearms safety course they accept it.

If you have no training or other documentation contact your local range or look on the NRA website for an NRA Basic Handgun Safety course. You may have something that meets their requirements already.

Does anyone know if the Florida CCW meets the Alternate Documents requirement? The statute says that the CCW must be "issued by another state or a political subdivision of another state and that has a training or testing requirement for initial issuance."

Florida's training requirement is extremely liberal (participation in IDPA or USPSA suffices), but is still technically a requirement. I wonder if Arizona agrees.

Anyone use only their Florida CCW for this purpose?

Not exactly. Most of the criteria requires that the course be approved by the Arizona DPS.

Quote:
N. An applicant shall demonstrate competence with a firearm through any of the following:

1. Completion of any firearms training program that is approved by the department of public safety and that is conducted by instructors who are authorized by the department of public safety or who possess current national rifle association instructor certifications in pistol and personal protection and who submit to a background investigation, including a check for warrants and a criminal history records check.

2. Completion of any firearms safety or training course or class that is available to the general public, that is offered by a law enforcement agency, a junior college, a college or a private or public institution, academy, organization or firearms training school and that is approved by the department of public safety.
Note that any NRA safety or training course is considered acceptable, though.

Resident aliens are not citizens. The constitution still affords them all the rights of a citizen, like firearms ownership and purchasing.

In fact, ANYONE who is on US soil legally is protected by the Constitution. There are some weird things with the 2A regarding, say, vacationers but overall the Constitution basically protects anyone legally on US soil. It's NOT just for citizens.

Here is the official word on having a Utah CCW.

Quote:
Yes, make a copy of the front and back of the permit and include that with the application documents. Also, be sure to fill out the "Firearms Qualification and Statutory Review Affidavit" on the back of the application. On the first line write Utah CCW and the permit number, and then sign and date the document. This verifies what documentation you are using as proof of firearms training. Thank you.

Question on the AZ CCW app....

Where it says COUNTY, should I choose any AZ county? Should I use the county that I reside in within CA? Or should I just leave it blank?

Also do you recommend putting the SSN on? I don't put them on my DROS forms when registering for a gun, but just wondering if it would help or not here as well.

Just to clarify: anyone will be approved to carry concealed (except felons/mentally unstable/etc.), but you still need to be issued a card. Right?

Thanks.

In AZ as long as you are legally allowed to own the gun you can carry it loaded and concealed. The reason to get the AZ CCW card is because as of July 1st Nevada will accept AZs CCW. This lets you carry in the two neighboring states.

Or while you're visiting AZ to carry in restaurants.
