Saw a bunch of fishing reels in the ammo case at Shawline last time I was in there a few days ago, not a good sign.

went looking for 223 today and came back empty handed from the walmart near the border. however, they did have a number of 7.62x39, .380, .40 sw, and a couple boxes of 9mm. Was gonna pick up the 9mm but decided to pass it on to the next lucky customer since I'm really looking for only 223

Been pretty hit or miss. I did score a UMC 250 round Mega Pack of 9mm Saturday at the Lakeside WM. They happened to be stocking when I was there, right place at the right time I guess.....

same in san marcos, nothing.
It's pretty clear that despite what Wal-Mart claim, they are out of the ammo business.
I suspect that they used to beat the manufacturers up on price and at the moment it is a sellers market and they are not in a rush to sell to WM

If you need bulk ammo Poway Weapons and Gear has a ton. Not walmart prices, but better than what most local gunstores charge.

Winchester 40S&W 50 round boxes for $17.99 or 1,000 round case for $339.99.

Winchester 45acp 50 round boxes for $20.99 or 1,000 round case for $399.99
They also have a bunch of other ammo but I was specifically eying those two stacks.

They listed it all on their facebook.

Aero drive has 2 federal value packs of 9mm of 100 rounds, about ten boxes of 50, steel case 7.39 and 223. Oh and 1 box of 50 rounds of cci standard velocity. I used to be able to buy ammo after work but was told today that they only sell ammo from 7am to 10pm. Anyways don't be up early enough to get to it, hope it helps whoever needs it.

Scored a 50 pack of Remington .223 at Pooh-Way today. They had one other pack. Lots of Federal SD pistol ammo. Some WWB pistol ammo.

No .22LR. Gal told me they've been getting it but the flippers are still lined up 3 hours ahead of time.

Wish to farque people would stop paying $50 a brick so these people would go away...

The lines at Poway are not what they once were. In fact I was there yesterday and picked up 3 of the 20 50rd boxes of CCI .22 that came in. There hasn't been much .22 at all in the last couple months there. Lots of pistol ammo tho that's for sure. 100 rd value packs have been pretty regular in 9, .40 and 45. I was able to pick up 3 100 rd boxes of Federal .45 earlier this week for $34 per box.

My main complaint is that my walmart won't sell ammo at night anymore. I usually get off around midnight and on occasion would find ammo like yesterday but they said no selling until 7am.

Clairemont had some .17 HMR, some expensive .223 ($20/20rds), assorted 12 and 20 gauge bird shot, and some buck shot, and .380 as of 2:00

Aero had basically same minus .17, but had a few boxes of CCI .22LR Quite which I snagged.

Usual 3 box limit. They still have plenty there. At 0.07/rd it's not ideal but better than all the other online deals with no shipping.

Thanks for the heads up - I haven't seen .22LR on the shelf for a long time.

The cashier asked me for my ID. I asked why and she said she asks everyone. OK(?)...

Then she asked me if the ammo was for a handgun. It wasn't a friendly small-talk type of question, more like a survey. What's the point?

If it is for a handgun, you must be 21+ to purchase. If it is for a rifle, then you must be 18+ to purchase.

Yeah, although I don't look my age, I'm about 50 so no need to verify my ID. And she knew my age before asking if it was for a handgun. Maybe she was just going through the protocol. Since I've bought 12ga there before I guess the topic never came up.

WM in Poway has some .22lr in 50 end boxes CCI at $3.15? A box. They had about 10 or so boxes left. I didn't need any.

Thanks.

Picked up my share, there are still a few boxes of the WWB 100 pack of 9mm (think there was 2-3) and a few 100 rd boxes of the .40 left.

I was going to pick up some of the 9mm but was told that they had some remington 225ct b boxes of 22 coming in. So i waited until 4:30 and was in line for ammo, then they tell us that the 22lr is the only thing that didn't come. All the other ammo they had in their incoming shipping list was there except the 22lr which seemed really fishy to ask of us there but that's what they kept telling us. My guess is either logistics put it aside when unloading or someone in distribution didn't put it in on purpose because every thing matched the incoming list except the 22lr.

I think the register prompts the clerk to ask and they have to punch it in. Don't expect them to know anything about laws or firearms because they usually don't in my experience.
