Will,

If its not too late, I can wait on the rest of mine to get the rest of the guys theirs. I know I still have a bunch outstanding, and if that helps get the other ones out, I'm totally cool with that..

WOOOOO HOOOOOOO!

I got mine!

Now to figure out how to assemble the darn things. I got as far as the spring...

Plinker, Drawn - EXCELLENT JOB GUYS! They look awesome! I really appreciate it!

I don't understand what all the little knick-knack parts are for?? I know the long ones are the regular floorplates, and the crappy plastic things are the standard followers, but what about the little metal thingies - what are they??

I assembled one of the mags that I got. If I did it right, the ranger floor plate replaces both of the flat floorplates (the longer and the shorter one). Those two plates would be used if you weren't going to use the ranger floor plate. Please correct me if I am wrong. good luck.

Got mine today, also. Thanks guys!

Uh, I may be the class idiot, but can someone please share how to assemble these things?

I know it's been asked before, but I have not yet seen an answer.

Search for this thread "Could someone walk me through assembling a 10/20 AR mag?", it has pictures and steps.

You're missing the locking plate for the magpul ranger.

Look in this picture.

Clockwise, starting from top left, you have 2 standard floorplates, 2 ranger floorplates, 2 mags/springs, 2 standard floorplate locking plates and 2 ranger locking plates.

You need to put the locking plates in before you put on the ranger plate. It's what keeps the Ranger from coming off.

The one on the right is in the way you should see it in the mag. There's a little bullet shaped engraving in the middle "riser" that is what comes through the ranger plate.

No plans to go again, but mrjones has his for sale.

There's no way I could do this again for even close to this price. With the addition of the very nice Magpul 10/20 PMags out there, the need has diminished, as well. I like these in some ways much more, but the pmags are great.

A couple of questions...

First off, one of my base plates came in completely bent.
Do you (uclaplinker) have any extras from someone who ordered a ranger base?
I am happy to pay shipping.

Also, I may have missed it in the 30 pages preceded by this one, but has anyone had issues getting the base plates to fit? The one I have doesn't come close to fitting either of the mags purchased... Should I just sand em down or is there something im missing?

Thanks for the all the hard work uclaplinker, the mags came out really nice!
Just can't wait to get them all back together.

I would, but it looks pretty bad. I don't have it in front of me right now, but I believe it was bent in 2 places. I guess warped might be a better description.

I got my mags today, duracoat is real nice and seems real durable. Took a lil bit of work with the good ol dremel tool to get the Magpul Ranger floor plates to fit but they came out pretty good. They seem to fit my Spike & Mega lowers just fine. Stuff was packed real good.

The only part that needed to be dremeled, I hope, was the back tab of the plastic insert on the Ranger? PLEASE do not dremel the mag. I can tell you what parts/areas need to be rubbed down/filed (if necessary).

Hey Raph,

Sorry that happened.

It really is that simple - just bend it back - put on a flat surface, cover with a towel and flatten. If there are any issues with the DuraCoat after this I'll have it touched up.

If you're having difficulty getting the floorplate in (metal plate), use your fingers or a fabric/leather wrapped pliers to bend the tabs SLIGHTLY. Little by little until it slides in. It should be snug.

All of them in bags with a 2 are GTG. If they're in bags marked 3, then I would wait a week or so. If you have a yellow follower I would wait 2 or 3 weeks.

Thanks for the update.
I'll give it a try tonight.
No worries about the duracoat on the bottom, as long as it fits.

DO NOT FILE DOWN THE MAG it's completely unnecessary.

Which piece is the issue? The inner or outer?

plinker.... Eric_Oh and I ordered our mags together under his name and we had them delivered to my office. But... we didnt get our ranger plates. Are those still on order? i quickly went through coupel of the last posts, but couldn't find any comment to that regard. Did ours get mixed up with someone else's? We got all 5 mags, all yellow followers, standard floorplates & floorplate retainer. We got only 2 of the standard followers(no big deal) and ZERO magpul rangers. Pls check up and let us know.

Thanks guys.
Bent the floor plate back, and the front 2 prongs of the mag body up a bit and they fit fine.
Took them to the range, and they work great.
Thanks again for doing the group buy!

One of my mag will not engage the bolt catch when it is empty, may I know who can warranty it for me?

I think the follower somehow sit more forward than others.... I don't know if it is a problem of the body or a problem with the follower....

My other GB magazine works fine, and any of my other magazines, Magpul P-Mag, Bushmaster 10/20, C-product 10/10 etc... all works in this setup....
