Well if AB 450 passes and the Sheriff has to pass on the real cost of CCW issuance to applicants then the issue will resolve itself. If a permit becomes $500-$750 they'll have more deputies and less applicants.

With the time, energy cost and subsequent unrest I'd say the cost is well above $500 for some of us. I know my time is expensive by the hour and I have invested several so far.

It's been +/-60 days since I finished the last step in the process and started the clock...sixty days of answering every single phone call to my cell and sixty days of nervous anticipation every time I open my mailbox.

In +/-30 days it will be the one year anniversary of when I called and made my initial appointment.

I'm talking about 500-750 for just the admin fees. On top of the 100 livescan, 200 training courses, guns and ammo costs. I wouldn't be surprised to see the procedural cost reach over $1000 if AB450 passes.

With the denial of Peruta and current SCOTUS makeup don't expect CCW policies to drastically change in our favor in the foreseeable future.

If anything, this year has proven that the legislature can do whatever they want and get away with it. I'm just glad to be in Riverside compares to LA, OC or SD.

FYI...... CCW unit getting a new Lieutenant in the admin dept. The current Lieutenant has received a promotion. I wonder if this will slow things down a bit, I know it will for me.

For renewals they are asking that you contact them 3 months before you expire. They will make sure to fit you in within that 3 months.

If you're talking about Lt. Teets being promoted that has already happened and he's been replaced. I haven't heard about them replacing the new guy. That would be a bit quick since he's been in the position less than a year.

Well, I guess if you have someone really bothering you and are really afraid for your own safety, you can ask the Sheriff to lock you up in protective custody for a couple years till you get your permit.

Or you know, act like an adult and call the CCW unit and explain your situation. But that's not as much fun as complaining on the Internet.

Geez...take a pill man. Act like an adult and take a little humor when you see it.

By the way, is the sheriff your uncle or something?

there are provisions for that type of situation if any of us were in it we would use it, no need to be a troll

I was wondering the same thing because Sleighter sure does try to defend the sheriff all the time.

Just how would calling the CCW unit speed up the process? I would think if that was the case everybody would have called and the backlog would have been long gone.

FYI.....The City of Murrieta will NOT be issuing CCW's for those of us living here. This is from an email I received today from Chief Hadden.

Those of you living in the city will have to apply with the County of Riverside and deal with the 2 year wait for interview. Wish I had better news.

At least you got a answer! The city of Hemet will not be issuing CCW's so it is the same have to deal with RSO.

Any indication about why they won't be issuing?

Why should they take the responsibility when they can pass it off to the Sheriff?

Here's a snip from the Chief's email (hopefully he doesn't mind).

"As it stands right now, I do not believe we could take on the CCW with our current staffing. Additionally, if I was to be given additional staffing, I would want to use those bodies to fill other pressing needs within the department first (investigations, traffic, and patrol)."

I can see where he is coming from.

Chief Hadden told me he believes all law abiding citizens should be allowed to carry. When we first discussed this he said that "self defense" would be his only requirement for good cause.

Yeah...and when we're out of them, we sell em' for 1/3 the price.

Get it? Very easy for him to say since he won't issue CCW's.

He doesn't have the man power? I don't think the sheriff has the man power either with a two year back log. Trouble is, the sheriff can't pass it off on to someone else.

I don’t know Chief Hadden and have never talked to him so I won’t say he was not being truthful in his statement, but one thing I do know with some people it’s very easy for them to say they are for something if they have no intention to follow through with their claim.

Wow. 2 years. I must have just got in under the deluge after the December terrorist attack. Called in December, received an appointment for this past August. I thought that was a long time. I met a person last weekend that says he went through the City of Riverside with his request. Not the Sheriff.

Did he have his interview with Riverside PD yet?
