What was the first handgun you ever purchased? Was it a Keeper or Regret?
Hello Calgunners! Here we are again, due to my enjoyment of reading all the responses from the "What is your go to home defense handgun?" thread. I decided to start a new one because I love hearing from you guys and well I was bored . If anyone was wondering Glocks and Sigs were the most popular in that thread followed by 1911s.
Link to thread: http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s....php?t=1248238 Moving on.. we all know the overwhelming feeling of not being able to decide what your first handgun should be. The sleepless nights of research, wondering how they shoot and feel in your hands, which one is the most reliable and accurate, which one looks the most sexy without costing your life savings... and an arm... and a leg... maybe two.. you get the point. Days pass by, weeks turn into months, and you finally say F it and go to the gun store to buy your very first pistol... What was the first handgun you ever purchased and did you end up loving your choice or regretting it? Like I always say, Pictures are highly appreciated, SO YOU BETTER POST THOSE PICS UP!! I was fortunate enough to be out of state at the time when I turned 21, so after months of brutal research, I ended up with not one but TWO pistols for my first purchase. They are still my go to handguns till this day even after shooting many others. These two are sticking with me for life. My all time Favorite Heckler and Koch VP9 and my go to sub compact M&P Shield 9!! This picture was taken right after driving home from the shop. The one below was taken today. |

I still love my first semi auto. Not as much as I originally did one I expanded my horizons but I certainly don't regret it. Sig p226 in 40. No ca features, no roll pin and no short reach trigger. Still one of my smoothest shooters just prefer the cz. I stole it too for like $600

First handgun I purchased was the Colt Kodiak SS revolver from Turners for $694 out the door. This was in 1996 I think, maybe.
Actually, I paid my dad to purchase it for me. It was a limited run so I had to give him my money for it... I let people fight over it on GB about 6 years ago and sold it for $2800, with which I used to buy a Desert Eagle, a Loaded MC Operator, and a Sig Equinox in .40 cal...

First handgun was a Beretta 92FS. Loved it since first shooting it and have been loving it ever since. It's like a fine wine - it just gets better and better over time. I have other pistols that I also love to shoot but there is just something about that Beretta. I'll never sell it. And hopefully one of my kids can cherish it someday.

I saved up and bought a consignment Kimber Ultra CDP II on my 21st birthday for $1100 after reading about them in Guns & Ammo magazine in the workplace bathroom. It had a lot of issues at first, but after a new recoil spring and a trip back to New York for an extractor it seems to work a little more reliably 7 years later.

Bersa Thunder .380.
Bought in college when I was broke and was never really proud of it. But now that I have a collection to choose from, I find that I prefer to carry it as my CCW weapon. Definitely a keeper. |

This was my second handgun. My first was a POS High Standard Double Nine. I was 18 at the time and got it through a private party sale from a guy in the air force with me.
When I turned 21, I bought myself a Colt Trooper MK III in 22 LR. They were being discontinued and were being heavily discounted. Nice gun that I wouldn't mind buying again. Both are long gone.

Springfield XD Tactical - Don't even think I've shot it this whole year, might have to change that.

My first was a Glock 35. I still have it, and it's still one of my favorites. At least, it gets shot a lot

A Colt Police Positive Special like this one
It was good for learning on, but in retrospect I could have done better (S&W!) I sold it long ago along with many others. Oddly enough I wish I had a good medium frame revolver for HD these days. Last edited by John Joseph; 10-25-2016 at 3:51 PM.. |

First was a Ruger MK I close to 40 years ago. I shot competition with it as a teen. Still have it today. All the kids learned to shoot with it. Almost aims itself.
Still have it today.
