just wondering but does the fake can come with the spikes or did everyone just decide to do the same thing?

cause it looks damn nice and if that is how it comes, i think i rather do a build instead of getting those .22lr colt/s&w pre-builts

The only time magazines are used for resting rifle is for posing. In the shooting pic im supporting the front of rifle by the VFG and not the magazine as obscured by the other mags. No offence taken.

No worries man
you can take the Marine out of the Corps but not the Corps out of the Marine
shooting using your mag as a rest was a big no-no in the Corps
but like I said nice rifle
how does it shoot
im interested in getting one

Try the tuning tips located here. http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...f=282&t=168048

Also what ammunition are you using? Federal Bulk Blue box runs great in mine.

You can start by cutting a few rings of the bolt spring. I also installed a lighter hammer spring from JP rifles. Spikes tactical also sells a light hammer spring. I used to have intermittent FTE on my Spikes, but she runs great with the new hammer spring installed. I also polished the hammer were it contacts the bolt, and used Moly lube on the hammer as well.

It will need some tuning, but once you get it right it is damn fun to shoot. Plus troubleshooting is part of the fun, at least for me.

Good luck.

I use the conversion bolt from spikes, my spring is around 6 coils less then what they recommend, and I put back in the original trigger spring. When I put back in the original trigger spring and shot the last 80 rounds I had everything worked perfectly. Alot of my light primer strikes were when trying rapid fire, and a few here and there with normal slow shooting.

The recoil spring cut down helped me with FTE's, the original hammer spring I hope solved the numerous light primer strikes I was getting often with the softer spring I installed along time ago. Dont be scared to cut down the recoil spring, but I bought extras before I did it, my kit never came with extras like alot of people get.

Here are a few pics of my dedicated .22lr.

It is a complete CMMG lower with a Model 1 Sales 16" A2 HBAR Upper.

It is a blast to shoot. I have shot a little more than a brick of Federal through it with no problems and about 100 rounds of Win lead nose with no problems either.

Met fellow CG'er Davinho there and he offered up some of this Aguila 60 gr ammo. What a difference!

Still have some fine tuning to do, but its almost right.

Others have said that the SSS .22 is very accurate also.I guess it is time to pick up some and have some quiet fun.

Default Tac Sol LT

Brown truck dropped off a package from Tactical Solutions today! AR-22 LT Upper with matching Matte Black Compensator (hard to see in pic) and five 10-round BDM magazines. Fit and finish of the upper is excellent, as I've come to expect from Tac Sol. A nice extra touch is the extended latch they use on the charging handle. It makes it easy to manipulate the bolt with one hand.

I posted full specs of the lower in another thread, but basically it's a Noveske N4 + DPMS LPK + Magpul MIAD + Magpul CTR + Noveske QD End Plate + KNS Pins. The fit onto the lower is quite snug, but I'm still able to push the takedown pin in without a punch.

I opted for the LT instead of the M4 or Spike's ST-22 because of weight, and I think I made a good choice. As pictured, unloaded magazine, with H buffer and spring still installed in buffer tube, it weighs around 6.4 pounds. The weight balance is perfect and the knurled Hogue handguard suits me just fine. I was planning to swap it for a Troy TRX Extreme 11" rail, but now I don't think it's necessary.

Range report to follow after the weekend.

I've wanted an ST-22 ever since I saw it the first time and this thread isn't helping... the one with the YHM railed forarm and fake can...

I picked up this DPMS upper before I saw the spikes. Still a fine upper

Tactical Machining lower, RRA 2-stage trigger, Stag stock, DPMS dedicated .22 upper. This pic was before I had a trigger guard. Mounted with a 4-16 weaver scope for range testing.

Default Range day pictures

Here she was at the range

Once I zero'd it I was able to get nickle and quarter sized groups regularly at 25 meters and around quarter to 2 inch groups with iron sights and the 8 MOA C-More at 50 meters which is more than acceptable to me for a plinker. I Might scope it to see how tight I can get it later when I can afford a scope for it.

Awsome setup for both. What kind of stock do you have on the 10/22, I'm interested to know what kind of scope that is too. Great setup. Pretty pricy AR just for plinkin but that accuracy seems pretty good for a red dot

The stock is a B&C light target and the scope is a Falcon Menace
it used to be on my Remmington 700 but I replaced it with a Bushnell tactical

the C-more was 200USD which is reasonable

Default Retro Colt M16 w/ Spike's Tactical ST-22 Bolt

Lower is LMT Defender w/ A2 Buttstock and Ergogrip.
Upper is retro M16, NOT M16A1 Colt 604 upper. It has the lightweight barrel with 1x12 twist.
Spike's Tactical ST-22 Conversion kit w/ gas tube plug

This is technically a dedicated 22lr upper, because I removed the gas tube. Therefore, I have also installed a magazine release button.

In it's native habitat...

Notice the slickside upper w/o forward assist or brass deflector...

- Not pictured, but currently has a Magpul ASAP plate w/Blackhawk storm single-point sling
- Standard mag release and 25rd mags (15rd pictured)

ACS arrived.

Definitely like the heavier weight on the end compared to the CTR, provides better balance overall to the rifle.

I made some changes to my TacSol LT upper and built a new lower for it to turn it into a dedicated rimfire setup. Here's the full build details...

Upper: Tactical Solutions AR-22 LT
Barrel: Tactical Solutions 16" Lightweight, 1/16, .22 LR, with Tactical Solutions compensator
Handguard: Troy TRX Extreme 11" Battle Rail
Trigger: DPMS stock trigger with rounded hammer
Lower: Spike's Tactical SL-15
Grip: Magpul MIAD (F4, B2 inserts)
Stock: Magpul ACS
Magazine: Black Dog Machine 10rd
Optics: EOTech 512 Rev F
Sights: Magpul MBUS
Sling: Magpul MS2
Other: KNS Gen 2/Mod 2 pins, YHM EZ Pull takedown pins, Noveske QD end plate
Use: Rimfire fun!

Wink Yet another change

The style of this particular has not really changed just the color of th accessories

I still love this setup more then my 9mm CAR I built, but I am getting out of the AR game so it must go now.

Yes those are.

On a sad note, I just got home from a long day which included shipping off my .22LR Dedicated Upper, I already sold the Lower a few weeks back. She'll be missed

She served me well
