Get an Aimpoint the EOTechs were not holding Zero during extreme temperature changes and the military dumped them.

Im still using my EXPS3s.
Its not like im going to be going anywhere that is going to experience extreme temperature ranges from -40°F and 122°F within a few hours..... Never noticed any impact shifts when shooting in 110°F temps in the summer here in Vegas, or when its 50°F in the winter here... I have 2 EXPS3, 2 Aimpoint Micro T-2s, and 1 Micro T-1... if it matters

Love mine as well. The problems in the sandbox of the hot, hot Middle East were rare. Nothing runs good in 136 degrees...
I might buy another one.

I have an XPS on my personal duty Colt LE 6920. A few months ago the reticle was fading in and out during day light hours. I sent an email to Eotech. They made it right. I sent them my Eotech back, and came back good as new. I had my XPS for 4 years and was not charged for the repair even though the warranty has elapsed.

I love the view when looking down an eotech. I still have and use 3 of them. This problem is similar to the g36 problems that seem to bother nobody but the brass. I have had the same xps2 on an ar pistol for years with no re zero.

Had my personal one out hunting in 17 Degree weather for 4 days. Brought her home and tossed her in the safe without any cleaning, zeroing or anything else. Took her to the range about a month later and she was spot on. I'm keeping mine.
Had another one mounted to my motorcycle for 3 years in all kinds of weather, not to mention the vibration from hundreds of miles a month on the bike. Never lost zero. My department "knee jerked" and mandated us to take them off so they could to do a mass, one time return.

I dumped my 511 because it worked twice and I was basically sitting on it because it was out of warranty. $400 pos paper weight. I have used other people's and they were much better but I'll never buy another one.

If I wanted sub MOA optic accuracy, I would have used a quality (>$1,000) scope. For my 458 SOCOM the EXPS2 and G33 work great.

Yes. No problems whatsoever. The thermal drift is a non-issue since Aimpoint just released their numbers and it is marginally better. Imho all devices will have thermal drift. The dot on the Eotech makes it much easier on the eye without the oval you get in all other red dots. I have both Aimpoint and Eothech and I prefer the Eotech for that reason. I had an Eotech go bad and they fixed it for free got it back in 4 days round trip. Great customer service.

I still use my Eotech and have no plans of replacing it until it dies.
Aimpoints have problems too. Electronics in general don't like extreme temperatures. |

EOTechs are AWESOME optics built for SPECIAL operations where the optic will be subjected to LIMITED abusive environments.
SEALs, Delta, SWAT, LEO, Contractors... these are the guys who use EOTechs because these guys have access to a logistic supply chain and can replace their Optic after every mission if needed. The cost of an EOTech is about the same as the Cost of an Aimpoint or an ACOG..so why does the Military issue the Aimpoint or the ACOG to troops? Because the EOTech doesnt hold up as well for long term abusive use, as what a regular GI needs. Buy an EOTech great stuff, no worries for the average civy... but for SHTF, buy an ACOG or Aimpoint. |

I'm about to send mine out for a repair (unrelated to the recall) but I've had several in over the years and I like the the classic EOTech 65 MOA circle a lot.

Rumor has it that eotech has plummeted on the Mall Ninja Stock Exchange, but I know several people that still use them with success. I guess they aren't using them in such extreme temperature swings, such as a shopping mall.

I love the Eotechs for that 1 MOA dot too. You can be decently precise with it.
