Hellfighter or Patriot Pin
I am a FFL Dealer from Florida and sold and sent Custom Spikes rifles to California until 2018 using the bullet button. When they changed the laws on AR's I could not imagine using the Buttstock and other changes. Now I read I just need a Hellfighter or some other magazine release. If I install a Hellfighter that is the only change to being legal in CA. What about he pistol grip? I am already approved to ship into California and I just log into a CA ATF site and get a approval number.

I assume you meant the end of 2016 for bullet buttons. As long as the action has to break open to drop the mag you can have the features as far as I know. So what ever mag lock that requires popping the rear pin open to operate should be ok.

Darin prince has been doing this for a long time and has a sterling reputation reputation in the community so I recommend the patriot mag release by him.
But have you considered featureless. Sparrow Dynamics is a forum member and makes non pistol trips that are almost as good. Stick a muzzle brake k on it, and if you ask your customer for their LOP, you can fix the stock custom for them using a clean stock lock solution.
