Buck Mark red dot recommendation.

Hey fellas. New Browning Buck Mark URX Practical in my safe. I would like to fit it with a red dot sight. Hoping you might share your setup info with me.

I want to retain the ability to use the iron sights. Co-witness as I understand it.
Of course, the CA model doesn’t include a sight rail, so I need that as well. My budget for this will hopefully be around $250. Your advice?

I run a Burris Fast Fire 3 on my Open gun but given how the buckmark is built, I am not sure there are any co-witness sights for it. But if you get a rail with the rear sight (Tactical Solutions, for example) and keep the front sight in place, you can simply remove the optic

I have a Nikon P-tactical spur reflex red dot mounted on a Tactical Solutions 1-piece picatinny rail.
When I want iron sights, I just remove the red dot and rail as one piece and install the factory rail with the rear sights on them.

My UFX Camper with FF III on TacSol Pic Rail with integral Rear Sight. No co-witness but easy to remove the FF to utilize the iron sights.

I would personally put a Holosun H507C on it. You can find them on sale for $235 to $249.

Not only does it have an incredible 10 year battery life using an easy to find and cheap battery, but it has solar to boot. The battery is also top mounted.

It also has 3 different reticles and uses the ubiquitous RMR bolt mounting pattern.

But most important is the shake-awake feature. I won't buy another red-dot without that feature.

No red dot on my Buckmark, but my S&W 41 has an Ultradot with a Clark barrel and integral rail. Ultradot very popular in Bullseye.

(1) If you want to have Red Dot and Iron Sight together then you need to buy a "See Through Picatinny Riser" .
(2) the CA model doesn’t include a sight rail ??????

This is what I have - Camper Stainless URX
The rear sight is part of the rail mounted to the top of the pistol with two screws.
Unscrew this rear sight assembly and install the red dot rail assembly with the two screws and your done.

Ok I think I get it. Wasn’t exactly sure what co-witness meant, but now I don’t think it’s necessary. Yes, California model comes only with a basic rail, no teeth on it to mount a sight. Real cute right. I’ll score a rail and maybe that Holosun 507. Change back to factory rail for irons.

I'd try that one if I got a Buckmark, unless I was going with a tube style (Aimpoint Micro) type like TRS-25, RD-1, HS503GU, etc...

HS507C has the mount pattern of a Trijicon RMR, but don't forget to order the right screws:

Yes thank you. I prefer the RMR mount. Lighter and lower. My consideration now is Holosun/Vortex/Burris. Building the piece is my favorite part. Woot!

Fast Fire III's are solid, so are the HS507C (so far, but they still look larger to me and kind of wonky). RMR's obviously are tough and look great. I complain about mine, but they are simple and tough... probably my favorites. I just wish Trijicon offered more value... like a seal plate and cover included or maybe just a mount. I don't use those fancy Pelican-like cases - use that money.

Bushnell TRS-25 is all you need to put shots on target. No need to spend more than that on a .22lr.

The plates that mate up to the proprietary pattern on an RMR or Fast Fire are a lot lower than using a universal pic rail and a low mount.

To tell the truth, at least with open sights my buckmark is just as accurate. Amazing for what was $150 pistol when I bought it 15 years ago.

MKII's are great, but the stock trigger was not good. Buckmark triggers are not great either from what I recall shooting my Cousin's Lite Gray URX 7.25

4+ years ago, on a whim, I picked up a $20 Fieldsport from Amazon and put it on the Buckmark. Defying all "buy once, cry once" advocates, it's never failed, has a nice dot, holds zero, and is bright enough to use during the day. I've even used the setup at bullseye matches.

It's mounted on a tacsol rail. This is a great range setup that shoots a lot better than I can

Sounds good to me. I have had $29 Tascos and cheap 30mm, 40mm, 50mm BSA's (still tube style)... they used to make huge ones. They all worked and never died IIRC... none were that bright, rubber coatings tended to liquefy after a few years, adjustments were mush, battery life was BAD... but they hit stuff. Even if you upgrade later and it is worth it IMHO, you can use them on BB guns or gift them to your cheap relative with a .22.

IMHO, RDS are mostly solid state with few moving parts... innately tougher than glass. Even the cheap crap.

I used to hit everything with a 4x15 Tasco scope - the ones that look like a vape pen... doesn't mean I don't like my Nikon M-Tac 4x more than that thing. RDS like the TRS-25 work fine. Sounds like the Fieldsports are OK.

..and I really like my Trijicon and Leupolds. That RDS will be replaced by a higher quality one when it dies, or I get tired of it, but it's performing well above expectations.

So I had a chance to put a few rounds through it yesterday. Pretty much dead on nut right out the box. Cycles well, no FTF or FTE. A few of us fired it with great results. As much as I want the RDS, I may not need it. It won’t fit in the case or in a holster. The factory sights are quite good.

What a great gun. No regrets on this one.

If your eyes are decent the factory sights are pretty darn good for most applications.

Ha ha even if they are not so good. I took my red dot off my Bucky, like the irons better...well fiber optic & iron.

One mounted with Vortex Crossfired, one mount with Nikon . I mounted those two to the Buckmarks because I had those two it does not mean must mount those two model red dots, for Buckmark I think the Bushnell TRS-25 ($35-$60) is good enough.
