Default .40 S&W Ammo Prices

Just picked up some Federal FMJ from Ammo Depot in Rancho. They're asking $32 for a box of 50. Does anyone know where I can find something cheaper, just for plinking? I've been trying to hit Walmart in the mornings, but no luck so far.

Watch the ammo forum here. You can get 40 cal for $0.40-0.45 normally and a little cheaper if you're fast and lucky. Heck, I can walk into most stores now and get it for less than $32/50.

Also, gunbot is your friend. Freedom munitions had 500 rds for 196 shipped yesterday.

As much as I hate Wild Sports they usually have good prices on ammo. Been buying it there for years, which is why I don't need to but it now. Be patient and prices will recede.

stay away from small stores. that's all. chain stores won't raise their prices due to the scare, but you gotta know what time to show up.

$18.99-22 per box .40 S&W depending on brand.

The only good thing about Ammo Depot is that its in stock if you really must have it right then and now. Especially for those gunless friends that wanna go shooting with you and don't have ammo.

$19.99+tax is quite normal for a box of 50. SBR usually has some but not this week.

I really screwed up my post, it was the new Elk Grove Walmart. Also the Roseville Walmart on Lead Hill had PPU .223 for $7.97 a box on Tuesday.

I haven't seen any .40 at Walmarts lately, but online I have scored a few times. I got 250 bulk pack of BVAC from Natchez for $74+12 shipping with some other items and ammo. I have four or so 100 round packs of Win White box bulk for $39-$40 ea. I already had a ton of the LE JHP Federal from Cabella's that sold for $13 a box of 50 back before the madness, so I am good on .40.

I was at BIG 5 in Elk Grove TODAY about 10am and they had 250 round bulk pack of Fiocchi for $119... not too bad <$24 per box. They also had Winchester 100 round Value packs for $51 and Winchester 50 round boxes for $26. So decent stock level - the shelves looked full for a BIG 5 lately.

I know this is a .40 thread, but they had ZERO .22 LR, only Hornady 9mm Z-max 25 round packs of 9mm (I bought some as a gift for my picky little Millennium that hates flat nosed HP's), and only Winchester WB .308 ($21)... some 7.62x39, misc hunting rounds and shotgun shells that I didn't register.

The manager said he hadn't seen .22 in a few months - they did have .17 HMR on the shelf.

Sac Valley had .40 for around $ 25. TODAY. No telling what's going to be there tomorrow...

Finally found 165gr HP plated bullets in stock online, ordered 500. That will keep me going for a couple weeks. I'd cast my own if I could but they're going through a stock Glock barrel, so...

That's 64 cents per round amigo .. plus tax, and your gas and time.

250 rounds http://www.freedommunitions.com/40-S...180r-b0250.htm 48 in stock $0.317/round

500 Rounds http://www.freedommunitions.com/40-S...180r-b0500.htm 128 in stock $0.302/round

500 rounds shipped to NorCal .. $16.24 .. shows shipping from Spokane .. no tax .. yet .. Excellent vendor .. five orders. Cheers!

edit .. umm .. didn't catch the above posts re Freedom M .. apologies guys. Was pretty tickled to get 500 45apc in Nickle a while back .. no extra charge. My ONLY complaint, is that they pack their New 9mm in 100/bulk, like WW. Everything else has been racked beautifully.

Sac Valley has factory new and factory remanufactured for around $22 / 50. 15% discount if you're a voting member.

Ammo prices are what they are. Even my .32 auto ammo costs a lot. 32, 9mm, 38, 40... all cost about the same. Why spend hours searching to save 2¢ per round?
