Kinda went nuts on my reloading setup during Christmas...
How to optimally use 2 Dillon XL650...
I currently run one for case prep and one for reloading... seems to work efficiently. suggestions? |

how to efficiently use?
One set up for small primer, one for large. The one with the case feeder is small primer and used for case prep and pistol and 223. the other one is used for large rifle. It eventually gets a case feeder for large pistol. prep is really dominated by the universal decap. Not much else to do. trim die I guess next step after that is to get bullet feed equipment up. |

For case prep, do a pre-wash of the cases in a rotary tumbler with no steel pins, dry, then run them through a tool head that resizes, deprimes, swages and trims.
Depending on the quality of the trimmer, you can go straight to a wet tumble and dry the cases before the reload step. If the trimmer doesnt deburr and chamfer, you'll need to do that before the wet tumbling process. |

To trim, I use that "lil Badger" adapter with a Bosh router and milling bit, all mounted on a Dillon trimming die. LOL and yea smart dude I'm married.. work from home and don't sleep a lot. It's my excuse to hang in the garage while drinking myself to death. I've been reloading for a few years now and cleaning is where I feel you need to do it at scale. I use 3.5 cu/ft cement mixer with steel pins, dish soap, lemishine and call it a day. The mixer makes it easy to do large batches and rinse without buckets Once the brass is fully processed, I throw it in the dry media vibrating with polishing liquid. Gives a brand new look. Pistol rounds I usually throw live rounds in the vibrating bowl. "but what if a round goes off"... no way and if it does, better in the cleaning shed than in my face. |

We have a lot in common. I like your style. OK, so I have to ask you now. Do you have a pic of your trim setup? I want to see how you mounted a router to a die. And I've mused for a long time about stainless pins run in an an angled bin, interested in hearing how it's working for you. Specifically, how noisy is it? Would you be OK with working in the same space your tumbler is running, could you hear the radio, etc? |

I'll find out soon. Even though I really didn't need it I found a xl650 frame, basically everything but casefeeder, conversions powder measure and primer feed for $200 and couldn't resist. I had the same though on keeping one for Case prep and one for loading, switching primers is easy.

Nice set up! As one of the other posters mentioned, you may want to look into a bit more lighting. I just got the LED lights from Ebay. Nice little set up.
Just make sure the center hole in the toolhead is perfectly round and even. Mine isn't and so the light doesn't fit all the way inside. No worry though, it goes in far enough to stay put and throws enough light. It's a much better option than my Fenix E11 that doesn't quite fit in the hole and keeps falling out.

http://fastandfriendlybrass.com/shop...er-adapter/34/ So the adapter looks like this, screws on your router and on the trimming die: Mounted on the press: Never really had issues with steel pins getting stuck in cases. I used a cheap Franklin Armory media separator and put a small magnet with the brass. Works great. |

You wanna do a prewash with soap and water to clean the cases enough to run throught the resizing die. Eschewing the steel simplifies this step, which only takes 15 minutes.
Then after resizing and trimiming, you will now tumble the cases in water, soap, and pins to polish and clean the primer pockets. This will take 1.5 hours. |

You'll definitely want to get a 2nd case feeder. I have 2 primer setups and just swap out the entire primer system, it's only 2 screws, but if you didn't have to worry about that, it would be that much nicer.

Nice setup. I wish my bench was that clean..
I have my 2 650s set up just like yours. I swap between calibers on each machine. one does 45/223 other does 9/357/44. I have a toolhead with just a universal decap that i put in either machine(i deprime then wet tumble) and another for case prep for 223. since both machines run different calibers i set them up so they both have all the bells and whistles. |

They gave me a good discount when I bought the second one. An they're not joking about lifetime warranty. I broke an indexer ring, ordered another one (and paid for it). Then got an email that it was under warranty and that the charges were reversed. Good people. |
