When I was a kid, I had a "Beeman's Air Rifle Digest" (massive thick book) and I must have read it cover to cover, dreaming of all those awesome (at the time) guns. On weekends, we'd go up to my parent's cottage and when we weren't canoeing or swimming, we were sitting on the deck plinking cans with our Crossman 766 and 760. My wife is not quite as "cool" as my Mom is about BB guns ... but one day, my girls will get their own Daisy's and we'll kill some cans together!

We went camping at a State Park last weekend, I gotta look up the law on BB guns at CA state parks...
Leadwaster your missing out on the Marauder. I took mine to the range( .25 cal),placed on a rifle bench rest with clamp and it will shoot a same hole group all day at 25 yards. I love how quiet it shoots.

Loco45, i tried to chrony the Steel Force last Sunday 8pm under a pine tree. But it wont register. I tried my newly acquired Benjamin Disco .22 but will not read FPS. I guess it was getting dark. I will have to add LED lights to the Chrony. I did enjoy shooting the steel force in auto burst mode.I love how the Benjamin Discovery shoots loud (near 22 rimfire) but if you step back 30 feet away, its not as loud. Can't Wait to get a budget for the Airforce condor. That will be really loud! I like loud for shooting range purposes and quiet for hunting( Marauder ).

@Bigsipper, that's too bad it wouldn't register, but it's a cool gun anyway! Yeah it is loud, specially on a hot day! I had my Steel Storm with me to my friends house the other day and it was hot out side and that brrrrraaaap sound was very close to .22 LR for the first 2 or 3 mags...

By the way if you missed the American Airgunner premier, the first episode can be watched here: http://youtu.be/evos8HSxy8E
I don't know why, but I got a southern accent and I never lived in the South before lol..
http://youtu.be/evos8HSxy8E

Edit:
I just got the confirmation email from Pyramyd Air that my Hatsan Striker 1000s in .22 Cal has shipped! Can't wait!! This break barrel gets about 20 FPE at the muzzle!

FYI: the Sports Chalet in Valencia,Ca charges me $5.00 per fill on the steel scuba tank. Per Airhog website fill calculator: 80 cubic feet tank filling the 135cc tank on the Discovery from 2000 psi then at 1000 psi gives you 103 refills. If you refill every 20 shots thats about (103 X 20) = 2060 shots ! Make sure you bring a sandwich and a drink at the range ! Because its going to be a while to use up the all the air in the scuba tank. For the Marauder it will be about 36 fills from 2800 psi then charge at 2000 psi.(approx 16 shots per fill on my .25 Marauder).IMO Hand pump is very fine for hunting purposes but for range use, a scuba tank is an advantage. Unless you like to hit 2 birds with one stone ( plinking fun plus a bonus workout which is good for the heart).

It was a good episode today! I liked the hunt, the .50 cal and it was funny how my how my accent sounded when they interviewed me about the competition. Being in the south must've really rubbed off on me. I'm from CA and that was my first time in the south...

lol and thanks! Yeah nah, I do have some kind of accent from the neighborhoods and people I grew up around, but I think being in Arkansas made me really sound like I'm from the south lol.. I catch on to accents easy, when I was in NJ a few years back, some words started coming out with an East Coast sound too...

Default Steel Force

Loco45, you are right. The Steel Force is loud if I shoot it at the back area of the house(echo) even at single shot is near 22 LR decibel. I was hesitant to use full auto.(for sure the neighbor will wonder who fired full auto and call the po-po. It is louder than the Colt Defender( back of the house sound check). But the Steel Force if taken to an open field, sounds like a toy gun( very quiet ). The Benjamin Discovery does not sound like a nail gun (back of the house sound check) but the Benjamin Marauder does sound like a nail gun.

Yeah out there in AR, I didn't think it was loud either, but I know from shooting my Steel Storm that in the backyard and at the range it is close to .22 LR. By the way, if you missed me compete in the 2nd episode of the 2013 season of American Airgunner, you can catch me tonight at 10.30 pm on the Pursuit Channel, channel 604 on Direct TV & channel 393 on Dish Network. If you don't have Dish or Direct TV, you can stream it online at the same time at http://www.filmon.com/channel/pursuit-channel
This episode features some squirrel hunting, a review of the .50 caliber Dragon Claw PCP air rifle and the first competition of the Airgunner Challenge, where you will be able to see me go up against some real fine shooters! This is my favorite challenge too and if you didn't see it yet, you'll find out why when it's over lol... Man I wish I could go and redo it all over again, competing in that competition was FUN!

Hey, glad I found this tread buried under the rimfire category.. kind of surprised there's no airgun heading somewhere in the main menu.
Caught you shooting on AA last night...good job! I normally like high-tech designs, but that last one (Evanix?) is one ugly piece.
And yeah, you sound more southern than that Criner guy! Did they serve up some squirrel stew after the competition?

@BigSipper, thanks man! Yeah that was my best day on camera haha! Came out #1!

@Brassburnz, yeah I hear that. You don't want to use BB's in a rifled barrel, that shiiit will tear up your rifling.

@SeldomSeenKid, Thanks and nah, they filmed that on separate occasions. Never had squirrel, but I wouldn't mind trying it
And I kinda liked that Evanix, it reminded me of a Pulse Rifle from the movie Aliens, so that's what I called it when I was out there. I do agree though, there should be an airgun section in the forum, since this thread seems kinda popular with close to 500 posts

If you missed me competing in the 2nd episode of the TV Show American Airgunner when it aired on TV, you can now watch it on YouTube! Being in the south, the accent kinda really rubbed off on me and you can really hear it lol, but it was the best time in my life though! Check it out! http://youtu.be/RrLZN7LNgcg

I just got my package from Pyramyd Air and in it was my first .22 Cal Airgun!
I got the Hatsan Striker 1000s in .22 with 1500 Crosman Premier Hollowpoint pellets and 400 H&N Terminator pellets and also I got a plano case for a single scoped rifle! The rifle also came with a 3x9x32 scope and a cheap bipod, but it seems to fit well though. I haven't been able to shoot the gun yet, but I'm going to an outdoor range in Woodland tomorrow, so I'll get some trigger time then. I've read nothing but good reviews for the gun though and so far I've only come across 1 actual bad review and it was a guy who said the safety malfunctioned for him and stopped working, but so far I've only seen one guy talk about that. I've heard of people taking out raccoons with 1 shot at up to 60 yards though, so it definitely seems to pack a punch! I can't wait to shoot it! I'll keep you guys posted how it performs.. Here's the link to where you can check out the gun at pyramyd air though http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Hatsan...fle_Black/2673
It comes in .177, .22 and .25 and as far as I've seen, the price is unbeatable for the calibers it comes in and the power it delivers!

Congrats Loco, you must be excited. Did you clean it already? Have you followed the cleaning technique shown by Cyrstal Ackely on American Airgunner season 2? She used a weed trimmer string bending the tip making an eyelit. I will post the Umarex Steel Force Chrony shortly.

Actually you got a high of 484, you wrote 433...
And yeah I cleaned out the barrel, but not the way the girl did... I just used my regular air rifle cleaning kit and used those white squares of gun cleaning cloth on a rod.

Good eye Loco, that must be a lemon chrony (the red one)! I did not notice that while i was at the field. Its too late to return it since its over 30 days. i might repeat the test and see what happens. I did the
Chrony on my .22 Disco without cleaning the barrel. Using Crosman Premiers from Walmart I got a high of 852 and low of 690 by shot 28 . I don't know but do they shoot faster with time like the break barrels do? Or it needs modification. Since its main use is destroying water bottles and alum cans, this rifle will stay unmodified for now.

I'mnot sure, I don't own any PCP's so I can't really answer that. 800+ ain't bad though, that's over 20 footpounds of energy, enough for most small game and will most definitely even take out raccoon sized game, if you hunt. My Hatsan gets similar velocities and I've read several reviews of people who hunt raccoon and stuff. Personally I just target shoot, but I want toearn to hunt though

Saw a Beretta px4 pellet gun at big5 sale $100 but regular at pyramid is $89. Its blowback and rifled, shoots bb and pellets. But slow on the fps about 380's. It has DA/SA. Im thinking about it.

If you want a real good pellet pistol, you should take a look at the Crosman 357! There's no blowback, but I've had mine since 2011 and it still works just as good as when I first took it out the bubble pack. http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Crosma...n_Revolver/201
If you have Amazon Prime, you can get it in 2 days, minus the shipping cost at http://www.amazon.com/Crosman-3576-S...ds=crosman+357
You get about 60 shots total / CO2 and the it's claimed velocity is 430 FPS, but I would imagine it's closer to 410 in reality. I haven't chronographed it though, so I can't tell you exact numbers, but it is a great pellet pistol for the money!

Wow, they edited the airgun comp to a really short clip, stretching it out I guess.

Yup, they sure did. We were at the range for 7 days, filming from 8.30 am to 8.30 pm. It was a lot of stuff that went on, I hope they add it when they put out the DVD box set (they said that should come by the end of the year)

By the way, I was at the out door range today and I sighted in my new .22 caliber Hatsan Striker 1000s and it shoots pretty nice! I haven't broken it in all the way, but I cleaned out the barrel today and put a 100-200 rounds down range today and it shoots great! There's a lot of kick in it though so I haven't really figured out if I should use the artillery hold or standard rifle hold with it yet. When I used the artillery hold, I got a few flyers, but that also happened when I gripped it tight. We'll see how it plays out further down the road when I can break it in a bit more.

I shot these squirrel targets at 20 yards at my local indoor range using Crosman Premier Hollowpoints and H&N Terminator pellets. It seems as if the gun likes the CPHP pellets the most though and also this gun does NOT like the artillery hold, it wants to be held like a regular powder burner rifle.

Just stumbled upon this article about the history of airguns and how they've been used in everything from target shooting, to hunting to warfare! Pretty interesting

Not Allowed to shoot PCP for 3 more weeks. My surgeon says no heavy lifting for 1 month! I weighed the 100 cubic feet steel tank before my surgery and it was 45 pounds. The steel 80 about 40 pounds. Some individuals are still selling there stash of 22 rimfire ammo for $60 for 525 rounds $40 for 335 rounds. No target shooting for me until then

Oh man that sucks! I'm trying to figure out what day this week I'm gonna take my .22 break barrel to the range again! I love shooting this gun, I wish that .25 cal ammo was easier to come by, because if it was, I would pick up the Hatsan Striker 1000s in .25 too!

Who repairs airguns? I have a vintage Crosman MkII (looks like a Ruger MkI or MkII) that vents the CO2 immediately when the cartidge is punctured.

Mac1AirGuns used to have the best rep around for this kind of thing, and they can also convert your MkII into an LD pistol. Tim's reputation lately isn't as good, there was a bigging pissing contest with the Yellow forum that turned a lot of folks off. My own experience has all been positive, but that has all been purchases, not repair work. They also sell seals/rebuild parts if you want to try it yourself.

To those who missed the 4th episode, check it out here: http://youtu.be/3cIATU8gddE
This episode they go hog hunting with the .50 caliber Dragon Claw PCP rifle, they review another Airgun and I'm back competing in the Airgunner challenge. This time we'll be shooting at an explosive target with the Sam Yang Sumatra .25 caliber. There's 5 of us left, so who will be the next 2 to go to elimination?
Also after the credits they added a little scene of me goin loco 4 real haha!
