CA Legal Timberwolf Pistol Discussion
I want to start a discussion on making our Timberwolf glock replacement frames CA compliant.
We are hoping to get them into CA under the single shot exemption. The plan is to put a setscrew through the mag release into some training mags we have on hand to pin the mag in. We'd also install a custom long barrel to meet the OAL requirements. The mag system is a no brainer and can be done today. The barrel on the other hand may take some time. We are so back-ordered on normal barrels and its taking a front seat to new projects. We'd not be totally opposed to buying someone else's barrels in a pinch to get us into CA quicker. Once we get a working gun where we think it'll fly we'll send it out to some of our CA contacts for their opinions and then to the DOJ for approval. We are working on it but I think the pistols will take us a little longer then the G9 carbine to get CA compliant.

Yep a 20/21 frame is coming. Our 19/23 frame is next and then the 20/21 frame is after that. Our 19/23 frame is coming along nicely. We already have the rapid prototype in hand and we are moving forward on the project.
We are looking to hit the 10.5" OAL requirement so probably 11.25 overall really. We'll have to play around but I think the barrel will be around 8-9".

Awesome!
I've been looking at getting a 20/21 so I can throw one of your 10mm long slides and a 6" barrel on it. I'm assuming that you'll have some form of a deposit program going for your barrels so that "recycling" may be an option, as I've seen and heard with other companies doing such projects. Good luck with everything and keep us posted (I'm a fan on Facebook too)! |

Yes that's exactly what we'll do with the "kit"
You'll pay a deposit on the barrel, mag release and training mag and then send them back to us when you get the conversion done. Biggest hurdle right now is getting longer barrels. We've never produced anything longer then almost 7" so we have to make longer ones.

The 19/23 should be going into production sometime soon. We have already gotten the rapid prototype.
We'll have to make new different barrels for the compacts to get in under the single shot exemption since they use a different set of barrel lugs.

I'm playing devils advocate. Why would a shop that does SSE go along with this. You would be taking away potential profits from them. I did see one situation where a customer brought in his own kit that he developed and performed and SSE. However, what if the store says no.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for this. There are some stores that will only do SSE on guns that are in their inventory. Just recently a local store said, it would do an CZ 75 for me. They would only do the CZ 75 they had in stock. I wanted an SP-01. |
