Default Where did all the Mosins go...

I just purchased another Mosin - Life is great. It is a 1920, 91/30, Izhevsk
Ordnance Factory, Hex receiver, Laminate, perhaps a Izhevsk Cossack, all matching numbers, brass escussions, scalloped receiver wall, black end caps, six digit serial number and they let me have it out the door for only $280.29.

It only took me calling twelve stores to find it! Some of the friendly people at the Big 5's did mention that there had been emails about perhaps sending their unsold Mosin's out of state to sell and others coming here would not be as abundant - "supply is drying up".

What have you been learning about the importers supply of Mosin Nagants?

Yes it is the name of a song, You are correct it was Flowers, now Mosins and may we work diligently so its not Americans.

I keep looking mostly at Big 5 (and all the other outlets too) for 1927, 39, 41 and 1945. I am on a budget so I do like to Big 5 Sale Prices.

Big 5 and pawn shop/gun store are the places I always see them, but they are fewer and farther between.

It is 48 1/2 inches long so therefore it is certainly a Dragoon I think.

Also near the date it is restamped with MO 53. Is the additionally stamped date when the old wood stock was discarded and replaced with the Laminated stock?

Turner's had a sale on low quality ones for $120 last week. Then had good quality ones for $150 and excellent for $170. I dunno if the sale price is still going on, but they should still have a few in stock.

Good news: Turner's have a bunch! Thank you for the post.

Do not worry - I only purchased three of'em.

1925, 1927 and 1939.

Good Luck on your visit!

With 45 million soviet ones circulating plus the ones made in other countries (china, finnland and so on.) I seriously doubt we're about to hit a shortage. maybe you just need to change up your habits when it comes to searching for them.

Most impressive, I did notice the different lengths. What are the years? Is the top one in the 1920,s and the bottom M44 a 1944? Is the 2nd from the bottom and the top both from Finland? Thank You for posting.

Nice! Just need to add a Dragoon, a M38, a M91/59, a Finn 27 or 28, a Type 53, a Polish M44, a Hungarian M44 and a Romanian M44.

Lovely collection (I see 2 Finns in there, BTW).

Even at $150, Glorious Vintovka Mosina is still a terrific bargain for the amount of rifle that you get.

My recent Mosin came from Turners in Pasadena. It did not have a Bayonet, ammo pouch or green cleaning equipment bag in the box so I ask Michelle if I could also get those items as part of the purchase. She did say what I had learned before that some of the boxes do not have everything needed. She followed up with that she would try to find me the missing parts. A few hours later she called and to my delight she had secured a bayonet for me. Wow, I am very happy with her extra work for me. Yes, I just received only the bayonet and am OK. To me it is the extra care she and Turners took to get the bayonet that is so special - up and beyond the needs of the sale.

I was going to purchase a Mosin Sniper from Mitchells Mausers and Oops I saw way to many bad reviews - could that be true for now too? To think I almost spent almost $1500.00 there for a Mosin - I am glad I went here first. Thank You - I will shop someplace different unless I hear a lot of positive changes there now.

Need some help: I have a 48 1/2" 1920/53. What is the 53? Could that be when the Laminated stock was added?

Mitchell's Mausers are most likely NOT "original." Their reputation is of creating pretty guns for the collector market. Re-bluing and new stocks are to be expected.
