Default Do You Have a Question about Scopes?

I have read a lot of questions here from folks about which scope, what does this mean, what's scope for what use, how much magnification. Here is a link to a thread on Rimfirecentral.com that explains much of it. Kudos to member "Sophia" on Rimfirecentral:http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums....php?p=1522944

going to sticky this.
I read the post and right away learned why Izzy and others always recommend Weaver.
Great post. I will also cut and paste the content for record

I have to look at that. I have a scope to dial in.

Thank you, Izzy. I am more ignorant of scopes than I am of guns in general, which says a lot. Nonetheless, I know there is much science behind guns and how to aim them. I recently bought a son a 10/22TD. He is used to using a red-dot on his Guard-issue M4, wants similar for his 10/22. While I have no objection to that idea in general, the thought hit that there might be something better (i.e. at least as accurate and as quick in picking up target) for about the same cost...which led me to your discussion. It has opened a whole can of worms while convincing me there is no simple answer. While it is frustrating to learn this, it is also wonderful to learn. It is also wonderful that you provide such cogent explanation why one seeking a simple answer must be ready to be frustrated.
I say thank you.
Thank you.

too bad the Midway channel on Youtube just got shut down. I'm sure there is a copy, but Larry Potterfield gave some great intro and beyond lessons on scopes.

As far as rails go. Is it better to go with a pica tiny rail or weaver? What would be the benefits/negatives of each?
