Default Lets See Those Krags

Have a couple of Krags, neat rifles, finding ammo is a pain but somewhere down the road I'll shoot them.

Now I need to find a nice carbine and I'll be set.

This first one is a 1896, in the 36,000 serial number range, in really good condition given it's age.

This second one is an 1898, in the 124,000 serial number range, in good condition but with more evidence of use.

The CMP ones I've seen are not as nice as run8!

Nice stuff!

I can concur, just to show a difference in prices, the top one I posted I paid $1495 for, the bottom one I paid $795 and the bottom one needs work on the bolt because one of the cams isn't functioning correctly.

I might add too that when I was at the Reno gun show in August I think it was, a friend picked up a Krag carbine, which was all original and that was $2100. I thought he was going to cream himself, was rather comical.

My 1899 Krag carbine, picked it up for $800.00 at Little John's Gun Auction in 2001. I was actually surprised when I got the call that I won. The Krag has to be one of my favorite C&R.

Got this one on-line more than 10 years ago. It's 1896, 57,000 serial number and considered an antique so no papers required. The price was affordable for me at that time since I was really been looking for one before locally but can't afford the price they're asking.

If I remember it correctly paid just under $400 for it. Again that was 10 years ago.

My not so original Model 1896! Found it on GB a while back and couldn't say no. The barrel is a 25" Douglas 1-10 with target crown.

I have a 1898 Krag in good shape with the bayonet that I will be selling once I pick it up from my parents house. They have been holding it for the last 9 years while I was traveling with the military. Mine has a yellow number on the side of the butt stock. How much are they worth? Is there anyone out there looking for one?

"Edgar", a cut-down rifle. Damn accurate but a wall-hanger for now due to excessive head space. Someday I'm going to craft some custom "long" cases for reloading by fireforming the shoulders forward to restore the gun to shootability. Humble and homely but one of my very favorites.
