AK74 failure to feed
My home built AK74 experiences failure to feed FTF.
What are some of the causes of this problem? Magazines lock in tight. rear of mag appears to be hitting on the center support. Some others feel that it is the magazine latch. What procedures should I use to determine the cause of FTF |

If the mag is hitting the center support. That needs to be fixed. And that could be the source of your problems.
Be sure your mag is far enough forward in the well, I've seen front trunnions set to far back causing mag fitting issues. Once this was solved the weapon functioned fine. |

"Failure to feed"
So it's not feeding rounds from the magazine? It's stripping rounds from the mag but jams before being chambered? Is the spent casing still in the chamber when the next round is fed?

AK 74 failure to feed
The first round does not feed.
It appears that the round sits too low for the bolt face to properly strip and feed the first round. Interference with the cross support rivet? File the mag or rivet? Mags are disposable. Thanks Bodiebill |
