So Cal Sharpshooter in Torrance. $75 out the door.
Robby Betts of Golden State Tactical in Fair Oaks (near Folsom/Sacramento). I believe he charges about the same price. Both have a website. All ffls now have to collect state sales tax, if it's not paid to the seller (such as an internet out of state purchase). dc |

Outdoor world in Capitola has raised their fee by 25$. It is now $100. Just called 1 minute ago.
Was told I can do multiple firearms(I asked for 2) for this price. Cant you always do 5 long guns and 1 handgun at the same time on one sheet? How do some places get off saying they have to do multiple?

Well I should've done my homework but I ordered a lower from riflegear very late last night (was worried it would go OOS) and sent it too bulls eye in Castro valley. I just called them and they told me the fee is $180 + tax... Not sure if that includes the DROS
That just doubled the cost of my complete lower I'll update this when I get the final cost. |

Not unless things changed, the owner of Island View in Ventura said that he does not want to do transfers so instead of just saying no, he set the fee at $200. He refused to answer if anyone has ever paid it. There is nothing on the web site to say what the fee is.

I'm sure the op list is out of date especially during this buying craze. Looking for a reputable FFL in or around South San Francisco. Has anyone used South City Pawn. Thanks for any leads or info.

Data point for an in-state, private party transaction shipped from seller's FFL to City Arms East, Pleasant Hill 94523 - so I'm reporting on the City Arms charge as buyer.
Firearm transfer fee: $75 The table in the first post lists $45 for their Pacifica shop. In addition to that updated fee, a sign in the Pleasant Hill store declared that the out of state fee would be $100 as of 2012. |

Peninsula G&T in San Bruno
I asked them about transfer fees on a out of state rifle last week here's the response. I thought it was high when I started reading this thread but since 2007 when it started prices on the transfer fee have increased significantly.
Ron, We charge a $75 transfer fee on hand guns and a $75 transfer fee on all long guns. This does not include the $25 background check fee (DROS fee) or CA state tax. Let me know if you have any further questions. - Max Peninsula Guns and Tactical 360 El Camino Real San Bruno, CA. 94066 (650)588-8886 Phone (650)588-8858 fax info@peninsulaguns.com www.peninsulaguns.com |

Here's the closest ffl to my location
High Bridge Arms 3185 Mission street San Francisco, CA 94110 I'm surprised a hyper liberal city allows an FFL to operate. Transfer fee is $50 as of June 2011. Having trouble finding more recent info. Never been inside the store before, but there's a sea of mostly 4 or 5 star reviews on Yelp. So if you're in the area, or eating at the nearby BK, stop by or pick up your weapons that you ordered online!

Kevin Smith in Martinez is charging sales tax. What these chumps are actually doing is illegally charging you a use tax which is then never actually paid to the state in your name. It is the buyers job to pay use tax directly to the state, OR the out of state seller can register with the CA-BOE and collect on behalf of the buyer, but the FFL who is merely performing the transfer has no legal right to collect this tax.

Your homework is to go to the CA BOE and look up the regulations which say that FFLs, as a CA business, are considered the retailer of the firearm when it comes from an out of state business. This makes the FFL responsible for paying the sales tax (which they can either pay it out of their pocket or get it from the customer), which is not right, but feel free to go argue with the CA BOE. In addition, the CA BOE changed their view, although not the law, in that now FFLs are told to collect sales tax on firearms coming from out of state even from private parties, unless it is a C&R and the CA buyer has a C&R FFL. Next, please provide proof that ANY FFL is pocketing the money. The worse thing you can do is to collect sales tax and not turn it over to the state. This is far worse than not collecting/paying it. BTW, this has been the case for decades, but many FFLs and even more customers were not aware of it. For items other than firearms, you are correct that the buyer is responsible for paying the sales tax. BTW, since your comments claim that the business is doing something illegal, which if false, would be consider libel and you could be sued for that. Since you claim that it is illegal to collect the sales tax (as required by law), you have a bit of a problem right there.

BOE Tax Code
Nice reply Kemasa. I have tried explaining this issue til' I'm blue in the face.
Here's a direct link to the BOE tax code section (which I have posted in several over posts - Maybe we can get the forum moderators to make this info sticky somewhere so its easy for the "doubtful" to find....) http://www.boe.ca.gov/lawguides/busi.../495-0848.html God Bless

There is already a sticky in the FFL Forum and it is also included in the FFL FAQ Master thread:
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=366781 Note: you need to read the whole thread as things changed since the start to the last post. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=454280 It is kind of like teaching a pig to sing, but all you can do is try. Even with the information, often the response is that FFLs should fight it (rather than customers).
