You said it - what your gun likes.
A bad round in the middle of a good run can be really frustrating.

I shot my first rifleman score with blazer, and many after with minimags.

I see more minimags on the line than others, whatever that's worth.

Thanks. I figured I'd do minimags but was curious about the opinions of others. Going to try to take a trip to the range before to see what seems to do best in my Marlin 795

In my experience CCI is consistently the best budget rimfire ammunition... Minimag and Blazer are my "go to" for loaner rifles. For target work I like CCI SV but it may not cycle all semiautomatics -- so Minimag it is.

Having said that the only rimfire ammunition I've seen that is predictably troublesome is Remington Thunderbolt. Also avoid exotic stuff like Aguila 60 gr SSS or quiet / primer only loads unless you know what you're doing. Reliability is more important than ultimate accuracy at Appleseed, unless your rifle really hates a particular load, which is rare.

for most of my rifles, it is CCI SV - for the two precision rifles, it is Eley Club or Match (Eley Edge if I feel generous- not cheap)

CCI standard is best I have found for the price. My wife shooting standing with the sling at an appleseed a couple years ago. 10/22 @ 25m

Usually, but even that much depends on the gun. My .22 AR generally prefers something lighter... except for CCI Standard which for some reason it loves best. Go figure.

Whatever you choose, make sure you bring enough for the entire weekend. I brought leftover Winchester to start then switched to Remington and my poi shifted. All that work put into sighting in my rifle went down the tubes.
